Disappointed too

Sorry to say but after starting two games and playing for about 5 hours each I dont like the game anymore.

Mainly one thing : I was always attacked by three enemys at the same time - with one I had a chase fire but then he broke it up and minutes later he attacked me too. I even had no chance to get to much other planets because I was too so busy to defend my own planets.

AI is a good thing but when it's always all against you it really sucks.

I played all betas before and had no problems and big fun to play this game but now I'm frustrated an don't think I'll play this game anymore.

Oh no, I don't like being challenged. Whatever shall I do?

Hey Trust,

The AI doesn't gang up on you. They'll be fighting each other just as much. If you're having trouble with so many AIs, a good way to start off is to lock the teams and give yourself a couple of allies :)

...Or give him a ba-ba or binky! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! hehe

(sorry Trust, I couldn't resist!)

You may like to start with easy AI with the defensive personality until you have a few games under your belt.  It will take a bit to hang of things, and everyone will be happy to help you learn the game.  Ask any questions you like :)

My first game vs 1 easy AI wasn't so bad. The next few against multiple AI on easy I had to quit early on as I was taking a pasting and couldn't get settled enough.

Now I am owning the easy AI quite nicely and moving onto a higher setting. Experience and patience is required. It should be noted as saying, this game is hard!

Sorry what a stupid kindergarten forum is this here?

I searched the forum and found some other people with problems, the AI is using some kind of a bug with some frigates that are overpowered.

It's Ok to handle one or maybe two of this raids but not from three enemys at the same time.

This game is not more what it was in the beta and what I paid for, this game is now more like Warcraft or all the other stupid seek and destroy games.

Is there a way to sell this game if I bought it from Stardock?

HAHAHAH dude I abandon games vs multiple hard AIs sometimes too. It does suck when they gang up on you but that's lack of the draw. I especially hate when I'm fighting one AI, and another one attacks on of my far planets with nothign but siege! Nothing I can do to save it (I don't have planet shields yet since I usually don't tech to them).

But I guess to each his own, if you don't really like it I'm not sure how selling it will work. Perhaps some Stardock guy will let us know. Sorry you are not satisfied, I guess it's hard to satisfy everyone. Good luck to you in your future gaming experience!

Unfortunatly this game is definatly is not for everybody, Maybe you should try some games online since they tend to have a more laid back kind of gameplay believe it or not If you try a 2v2v2 you'll find that you won't get ganged up on like you do when playing the AI, however i think i read somewhere that in singleplayer the AI will target the strongest person.

No doubt. Romper room even for some.

There are some seriously off-the-wall posts being made here today. There must be a full moon or something strange in the water.

Nah, it's pretty typical for an RTS launch, Spartan. I've been playing them since Dune, and despite my hope that this game CLEARLY STATING it's a "4X" game and people would realize that, apparently there will always be the people who don't.

It simply amazes me to be sure. But then I'm not a big RTS person or FPS one for that matter either.

I understand people having issues and grips with things and wanting to inform the community and the devs about it. I do think it should be done a rational, cogent, concise and none hostile manner however.

Starting off a complaint thread acting like your life is over or there has been a great cosmic scam perpetrated on you or utterly slamming the devs, in their own house nonetheless, without merit or cause simply befuddles my sense of civil responsibility as well as expectations of maturity.

This is so given that the average gamer is over 30 and apparently SD/IC recognizes that fact, thus we get a lot of posting freedoms on these forums word usage wise, that simply is not allowed on any other developer forums I have even been on or know about because they are run from the viewpoint that nearly everyone is a teenager or younger. So to have posts made here reflective of that juvenile mentality really irks me to say the least.

i'm sorry but if u give up after playing 5 hours then the problem is with you and not with the game.

what do u want the devs to do about your rant? remove the AI cause you wont play the game after 5 hours?

i cant be kind about this ... its just erm.. silly.

finally an AI that actualy does something and everyone starts crying....

this game is totaly adjustable. if its too hard play vs 1 AI or make a porc map with no pirates or change the rate of the pirates waves or ally with an AI ....but nooo lets just whine in the forums about the AI and the pirates....

i for one adore the AI , its not a stupid f#$% that just sits there while u bash half of his troops away..he actualy reacts!!! my god! the humanity.

i guess u were all perfectly happy with crappy AI's in other games that u could completely destroy after 30 min so u can feel good about yourselfs.

i'm sorry yet again 4 my lil outberst but if because of all the rants about the pirates and the AI in the next patch they will dumb down the AI it will ruin the only game its worth while to play vs an AI.

take a week or two play the game change your tax and u will win vs the AI.

besides playing vs humans is 10 times harder then vs the AI.

Yeah, my post was a little "childish", I'll admit...but I was smiling when I wrote it! hehe ;-p

I just want to know what he hoped to gain here with that comment? Does he need his belly scratched? Threatening to stop playing the game because the AI was kicking his butt doesn't hurt anyone but himself AND potential purchasers on the fence post. So he can't get all huffy if we slam him, when he trolls here. Besides he could have convinced somebody else (that would possibly enjoy the game) to not get it, when in fact it really all boils down to personal perspective and/or prefrences. He doesn't like it, sorry for that, but you didn't give the game a chance or customized it to meet your liking IMO.

Move on...nothing to see here folks!!!!!!!!

The "Runtime requested termination in an abnormal manner" after I play for about 1.5 hours, generally just when my Siege Frigates are preparing to turn the enemy capital into space dust. If the AI gives up after an hour and a half it's only fair he's allowed to quit when getting thrashed too :P

What are you talking about, i think the AI sucks, ive played for 2 hours, captured 1 solar system (out of 10 in the custom map i made :) ) and i have barely any resistance, i also see that the enemy spams scout ships like no other which get hammered in 3 shots. the ai also loves to just run away alot, i have a fleet at a star and the enemy has twice the strength but they dont even fight they just run lol.

The AI is a bit like Starcraft in behavior

It always makes attacks and most of the time its against the player
It attacks like some barbarian horde

The AI is not smart it is just over-aggressive against the player

Especially if you fight with 2 or more enemies which yes is a bit difficult to concentrate defending multiple fronts.

1 against 2 (or more) is not fair of course but thats challenging

You can still protect yourself and fight the enemy back if you use the correct strategies (or diplomacy)
Think it as a chess game

The game AI is more challenging(difficult)from most RTS out there
and
especially if you are a noob it is expected to be very difficult for you...

The key to this is PRACTICE

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE and do not give up
At the end you will see that the AI is not so difficult after all

Please remember folks there are different AI personalities as well as difficulty levels that can be combined with the different races for a serious mix of AI goodness or evilness depending on you point of view.

It seems like the OP has no patience, if they group up on you make it so the teams are locked and you can make allies to help fight off other Ai's

Practice like others have said before as there are other harder RTS games and you will learn new strategys and for gods sake how long has the game been out? Give it a chance to update and fix some issues and be glad they will come out with updates as they always do because in other games, the developers jsut make the game and go to next project and ignore then whole community!

Additionally if you mix all that with the general game setting for research, econ and resources and it is a veritable cornucopia of digital pleasure and sorrow that will make even the most dire hard sinner cry tears of joy.

Funny thing about good games, you don't always win.
Here's the deal. If the game were TOO easy, you wouldn't play it and would complain that it is too easy and provides no challenge.

Now that the reverse is true, you are crying that you haven't spent enough time or thought into developing a sense of tactics and strategy. This is one of those games that requires a full game strategy along with tactics to adjust your strategy according to current situations.

While AI ganging is fairly common in games that include competent AI, I do not think it is too difficult to turn the tables on the AI to force them to fight each other. Think subterfuge.

This is a nothing post, from someone who doesn't understand what a computer game is. Or a good computer game.

However, he did mention spams - are the devs actually going to change the stats for siege frigates in an update, or are players expected to be able to counter such strategies?
