TEC using CAP ships properly

Getting all my posts in before I play.....

I get into a pattern, find somethig that works and just repeat it over and over. What works is the KoI and the Mxxxx - Long Range anti plant Cap ship. The reason is I don't know how to utilize the other cap ships.

Can someone break down the TEC Cap ships and explain how best to use them and the context in which they should be deployed. Thanks.

Carrier = pwnage when supported by a frontline warship, especially if it's your first one (earlier levels I believe really help the carrier as opposed to say the TEC Kol or whatnot), although I believe that the Advent have a far superior carrier-based offense (especially when combined with a Rev and the capship with the passive bonus to fighters...I really got to learn their names :D

Singleplayer only mind you!

Well, the usual deployment for me, which by no mean the standard or the best, but work well.

KOL - Hard hitting and has enough defense and ability to survive most encounters, probably the only TEC ship that has a chance to stand up against other Capital Ship early on.

Dunov - make a great combo with the KOL. Usually my first 4 battleships consist of 2 KOLs and 2 Dunovs, its Shield Recharging ability is priceless. This 4 ships combon unless face overwhelming odd can probably take out most fleet with ease.

Akkan - if you have a sizable fleet or a group of more than 5 capital ships, it's a good idea to have at least one Akkan as it helps to enhance your hitting rate. Back in Beta sometime it makes a good first capital ship if you want fast expansion, but with the Pirate step up in Retail and the Flag Ship no longer receives the 4th level upgrades, this ship really doesn't hold a candle in early game. So again, only deploy it once you have sizable fleet, in which it can be quite priceless.

Once you get past the first 5 capital ships then techniquelly everything go. This is usally when I have Marza and Sova. I usually don't include these 2 ships early since I don't think they're very effective for the early formation. Plus I'm not a carrier freak and a few Sova don't seem very helpful.

However if you "exclusively" building the Sova though, if you can survive long enough then a fleet of Sovas can make even hell freeze over.

Pretty much like satthukaraoke said KOL's have been the back bone of my cap ship fleets for a few games now and have yet let me down. Though I have one thing that helps them survive a little bit longer click off the auto on flack burst if you buy it early on or when ever you buy it. I have found that the KOL will use it if a fighter or bomber wing attacks it then by the time it fires flak the fighters / bombers are off somewhere else so its better to get in another gauss shot or shield boost for the anti-matter.

I use Akkan all the time as my first, followed by Kol. Kol is probably most powerful ship in the game. It has super staying power and hits hard.

But Akkan helps you expand, and it is also a capital killer preventing other capitals from retreating. Often I killed someone's first capital ship thnx to this! One time I even hit a guy's fabricator and stopped it from finishing up the turret it was building, while my cobalts destroyed it :O TOTAL WIN. And the + hit rate buff is SWEET.
