Kol only good capital ship for TEC?

Kol only good capital ship for TEC?

I tend only to build Kol, are the others TEC Cap ships good? What improvements are the best for them and the Kol?

I tend to go Akkan then Kol. The Akkan with a few escort vessels easily lets me colonize quickly and in late game if I micro the Ion Cannon the Akkan turns into a capship killer. I can't count the number of times I've hit an enemy capship trying to jump away from my fleet with an ion bolt and then watched as the Kol came in and finished it off, plus the Akkan's near full weapons coverage makes it decent against groups of frigates.

I actually considered the carrier and the siege-capship to be the useless ones. I may try out the carrier now that its gotten so many endorsements, but it seemed to me it requires too much resources to reach a critical mass where it can decide battles.

The only endorsement I could give the siege capship is that it's much much better at razing planets than other capships are, and very cost-effective compared to siege frigates. I certainly wouldn't choose it to go into battle, but you need some sort of siege ability to properly go to war.

Funny, in my 2nd game (and 1st win) my small-ish fleet consisted of (at one point), one of each but the heart of my fleet from the start was my carrier. I imagine there's a fair bit of difference about which is "best" depending on play style, but also depending on whether you're playing the AI or a human. Humans are crafty devils after all ;)

I'm pretty sure that I went carrier in my 2nd game because I got plastered in my first (in which I'd started with a Kol). It wasn't the capship's fault, but a combination of difficulty with Crystal gathering and utter newness to the game (really wish there had been a tutorial that ran you through the basics of an effective starting strategy).

Anyway, I think the Marza is the least flexible of the TEC caps, but it's siege capacity is good and it's nuke attack seemed to be awfully handy in a brawl as part of a fleet. I imagine it'll be my least used cap, but not entirely unused.

Actually the marza is very slow but useful against planet, maybe costs to much, Kols tend to take an awful time getting rid of a settlement

All races have a dedicated planetary bomber, which is usually a little weaker on the defense front. (Marza Dreadnought for TEC, Rapture Battlecruiser for Advent and the Vulkoras Desolator for the Vasari) They excell and taking apart planets and usually pack a big punch against ships aswell, but their armor and shields tends to be weaker than the more alround ships. They make great assault ships though if teamed up with support capitalships or cruisers.

I wonder if it's not ketter to use the cruisers instead of marza

I love the Marza's Nuke ability. With a few missle frigates and cluster missles, they can rip up frigate formations. Helps when those damn Siege frigates are eatting up your worlds. Plus while your Kols are slugging away they have the range, and seam to do good damage. The kol seems to be more of the tank for the TEC. I always build an Akkan first. While not the strongest of ships, the abilities it has are great support. Range + accuracy are always good. The ion cannon is great for stopping runners and getting in free hits. Lastly, armistice is a great save your ass ability when a massive fleet shows up that your not ready for.
