Fleet Size and battle manuevering

If I create an epic scale game, with about 20 planets per system and multiple systems; do I get a larger max fleet than if I create a smaller game? I am just worried that in the huge game that I want to play I'll end up with just one large fleet and I won't be able to make more because of the cap? I heard the cap is around 2000 (depending on your upgrades) so how many ships does this equal?

Secondly, are there plans on making it so the ships manuever during the battle? So far I've noticed they stand still (except fighters and bombers). It just looks strange to me.

The cap is 2000, that's about 300-400 ships depending on composition. Once the modding tools are released we'll easily be able to mod it, so you can create a really huge galaxy with a much higher cap (if your system can handle it :P)

As for ships moving around - I don't think there are plans for doing it.

Thanks for the reply. I can look past the ships not manuerving as long as I can have more than a few fleets in my gigantic game. When I make a game that big I doubt I'll have time to look at the battles anyways.

2000 ship cap is equivalent to either 40 Kol Battleships, 166ish Siege Frigates, 1000 scouts, 500(ish) kobalts.

You can change the system files if you want to increase the cap.

Practically, 2000 ship cap is equal to two main fleets of 6 capitals a piece, one with 50 frigates/cruisers and one with 75, and two smaller fleets of two capitals each, with twenty or thirty supporting ships each. >.>

He was just throwing out numbers :P They can attack, weakly, but the TEC scouts are actually pretty decent against buildings with Antimatter, once you research their boom tech :P

You can actually mod the supply cap now in the gameplay.constants file ("maxShipSlots 2000" is line 3), but I don't think we can currently edit the actual fleet supply techs to increase how much supply you actually can get.

Oh, good point :P I forgot that only the entity files were converted to binary.
