Request for variable victory conditions

First of all, Ironclad and Stardock, I LOVE this game! Exactly what I needed.  :D

I do have a request for more victory options in upcoming updates to make it even better:

-eliminate a player's capital (the homeworld)to eliminate that player--instead of hunting down and eliminating everything. Maybe all their remaining planets could turn neutral. This would make players especially careful about diligently guarding their homeworlds, which would make sense to me. If that was an option, there would probably need to be a way to lock the homeworld as the capital planet.

-a "king of the hill" option. Perhaps there could be one planet that would be the goal of every player to possess (key to the secrets of the Universe and all that). Maybe a time factor--a player needs to hold and defend this world for x minutes (30?).

-Goals--maybe one side would have to capture a faraway world in the territory of another side, and vice-versa.

-control x% of the planets.

-or control all the x type of planets (like Terran)

-economic victory--first to attain x amount of credits wins.

-have AI players surrender if they lose most of their worlds.

-not really a victory condition, but it would be really cool to be able to "diplomatically annex" (buy) neutral worlds. Birth of the Federation had this feature, and it was fun to court worlds to join your federation/empire.

-also, be able to vassalize worlds, either through diplomatic courting or intimidation.

That's what I can think of right now. Of course, people could always play with the standard victory condition. But having options would really enhance the variety and longevity of this game. I would especially like to see the capital elimination condition.

Thanks for listening, Ironclad and Stardock!

What do you think, Solar Empire fans? Any other ideas along this line?

I'm always a fan of alternate victory conditions. However since the people at IC have obviously been exposed to games with alternate victory conditions it doesn't strike me that this is an issue that they just forgot about. Must be some reason it's not in the game. Maybe, for whatever reason, it wouldn't "work" in this game. Maybe they plain don't like anything but extermination. I don't know. Did a search for "victory conditions" on the forum because I figured this had already been discussed at some point, but your thread was the only one that came up.

However, I agree with you. I would love to see alternate winning conditions.
