There's no campaign currently, and Ironclad said they want to finish telling the story started by the lore/intro movie. If there is a campaign, it will most likely be in an expansion pack.

Or not really, because there is no event scripting (yet) in Sins, so you could make maps but no "objectives" to be accomplished.

I don't think it needs a campaign. There is so much you can do in the game as it is.

I once had a suggestion, that they prevent jumping as long as they had antimatter. Sadly it was not supported :NOTSURE:

I would really love to see a campagin, modder made or developer made, i have no interest at all in the skirmishes, and the storyline started in the opening video was very intriguing and i was really looking forward to continueing it in game and in turn was really dissapointed seeing that you couldnt.

IMHO they should be ashamed charging 40-50$ for an unfinished game that is lacking the biggest part of it.

If they do created a campaign i hope that they dont charge people for it because it should have been included in this, so many developers releasing unfinished games these days, seems to be a growing trend.

Newb perspective here, just got the game last night (and played until 5 AM, heh)- I was at first dismayed by the lack of a campaign option, but after I spent several hours and got trounced repeatedly on the smallest map with only 2 players before I built my first capital ship...

A campaign might be fun for if and when I get better at the game and want to add depth. For now, it'd be an artificial impediment to playing the game. There's a lot of meat on those bones and like in chess, you should be able to play the game before you take on a tournament (poor analogy, but you get the idea).

Heh . . unfinshed is open to interpetation.  I think it's exactly what the developers intended.

How is it unfinished? Battlefield 2 is 40 - 50 dollars and it only has multiplayer/skirmishes. There are countless games that work like this.

Calling this game unfinished is a disgrace to human reasoning everywhere. Games as polished and finished such as this come once every 2-3 years.

Biggest part? Skirmish mode and multiplayer are there, and fully functional! (Heck, more functional than most games out there!)

Campaign is not the largest part of the game -- its the least important part.

Is there a storyline for CS or Team Fortress? Or how about Unreal Tournament?

Amen...some people need to get out of this mentality that games must have a linear, hold your hand campaign to be a complete game. The MP and SP skirmish games will have more depth than any campaign could provide.

skirmishes are boring, atleast to me, their what you do after youve finished the story and dont want to uninstall the game just yet and i have little itnerest in multiplayer, multiplayer and skirmishes are the least importent part of the game, im sorry.

with all due respect all this game is, is a homeworld clone with a little added economy and no single player campaign, this is just a glorified MMO

funny, because as a result this game actually has absolutly no depth, just pointless skirmishes and multiplayer battles, how is that depth? and depth this could have had was robbed by not including a campaign

So do you also consider Civilization IV unfinished because it doesn't feature a single player campaign?

Besides, Sins is $10 cheaper than the average retail price for a game, so I really don't see any reason to complain. If you really want a single player campaign then wait for the first expansion as they've said one is coming.

civ is the campaign, that game doesnt need a format storyline campaign because the game itself is the campaign, the whole premis of the game is basically to take over the world, and thats all it needs to be

and as per the expansion, why should i pay for something that should have come in the original release?

If you had done your research before blinding buying the game, you'd have discovered that for quite a while the devs had stated that there wouldn't be a campaign in the retail release.

How did it loose depth by not having a campaign?

Go play the skirmish mode for a while -- the "emergent campaign" the devs have designed is pretty nice, once you get into it.

Yea cuz i do that when i come across something on the store shelf

Listen, i knew coming on here was a mistake becuuse obviously im gonna get baraged by a bunch of cronies that dont want to hear anyone ruing their fuzzy image of the game, thats fine.

anyways, im done here, take it easy.

If you don't think Sins of a Solar Empire skirmish is enough, then this game isn't for you.

The developers can put whatever they want in their releases. Most of us are happy with the game without a campaign. If they release a campaign in a future expansion, and you're not willing to pay for it, that's your choice.

Yeah, and taking over the universe is the campaign in Sins- so what's your point? I've still not played the campaign in Dawn of War or in Galactic Civilizations II.

It's a 4X game that happens to be real time. There wasn't a campaign in MOO2 iirc either, yet somehow we managed.

Now dry your eyes and take a nappy!
