Sins Grouping and Interface

I have been part of the last 2 betas, pree ordering the game long ago. I have been paying, contributing to the beta via bug reports and enjoying myself a lot. I fired up sing retail for the first time last night and immediately started feeling my way threw the changes.

One change I can not get my head around is the removal of the group number from the top right vertical section. I used to micro manage my fleet compositions, repair, individual ship pullout via watching the expanded view of my groups. I also used to set rally points from factories to the groups and was able to get a good feel for my fleet compositions via a quick glance.

By default the groups are not showing in retail, i assume something has changed yet I was unable to make the group show up as they had in the previous version of Sins.

Has this function been removed or has there been a enhancement that I was not aware of? If so how do I get the groups to show as they were before. The overall visibility the interface gave me no matter what planet my fleet was in made Sins stand out.

Any help would be great, cheers

Aye, I have posted about this too.

Apparently it was thought a good idea to make "Fleets" with an enhanced AI that are pinned to the empire window. There is however no way to set a fleet to a hotkey, nor any way to make your ships waypoint to them(correctly - you can but after a few ships are made they seem to stop autojoining the fleet.), like we used to do with groups. :(

Groups are still around, but because they don't pin to the empire window there is no way for us to auto waypoint our fresh ships to them.

Fleets pretty much replace the need, and you can hotkey a fleet (I think you can just hotkey the flagship of it and be fine, actually, but I'm not positive).

Although there's a minor glitch where they wont update the top left unless you select fleet-click remake fleet again, they do infact keep joining.

Thank you Mattsw104, i've added my thoughts to your thread, hopefully we will receive some guidance from a dev or site manager.

Cheers Foogsert, I'll check that out tonight. I was not aware of "fleet-click" to create these auto fleets.

Can you share a little knowledge on creating them and managing them?

Many thanks,

Well by this I meant clicking the fleet icon, then going to fleet management and clicking create fleet again. It'll auto-add ships that are set to rally to the fleet anyways, just not show their blips in the top left (it will however show the ships in expanded view, I believe).
