Zoom by holding mouse buttons?

Hi,

As the title says, I was wondering if there is a way to allow smooth zooming by holding both mouse buttons and moving the mouse if you don't have a scroll wheel, much as there is in (for example) Homeworld.

Not that I wouldn't like an excuse to buy a new trackball with a scroll wheel, but having a choice would be nice :)

The game itself looks great so far, looking forward to spending some quality time with it this weekend :)

Not afaik, however you can zoom via the V/B keys as well.

Yeah, I had tried that - it worked, but it seemed very abrupt/jerky and not at all smooth.

Reading some other posts on this subject, I see that there's an option that makes the zooming follow the cursor or somesuch, maybe that had something to do with it....I'll try messing around tonight making sure it's turned off and hopefully it'll smooth things out a bit.

Could just buy a $5 mouse. Thats what my sister did when she started playing the sims. She found it much easier to control and enjoy when she could use the scroll wheel.

There's always that, yeah...was just hoping to figure something out with the trackball, as it's much more comfortable to me than a regular mouse.

My finger gets tired zooming in and out with the scroll wheel.

I wish there was a way to set the tolerance threshold for the scroll. So that I can zoom in more with larger steps, than having to make it have like 5 rotations to zoom all the way in, then all the way out.
