Where is my bandwidth Ironclad

Where is my bandwidth Ironclad

I paid in advance to pre order sins of a solar empire. I dowload stardock central go to download and I am not getting the bandwidth I paid for. Common .11 kb/sec that is insanely slow. I am downloading it right now and I want iron clad to speed up this download and give me the bandwidth I paid for. I paid for this game and that download speed is rediculous and is a total ripp off. That would take me 2 or more weeks to get this file at this pathetic speed. I am downloading this game with my account right now so supply me my bandwidth.

No matter how much you argue its still a connection issue on your end. But what do we know im sure most of us don't got 612 meg download speeds. I'm on dsl at my house and i go from 300-385 kbs so maybe your provider is ripping you off on your internet service.

Why are we fighting over this ? Discuss the game or something... ;p

i got nothing to do while i'm at work and since my game is still f'ed up since my format. Haven't had to trouble shoot it much and no one seems to have a fix for the black screen.

he didn't lie guys he mispoke... he said MB instead of KB

Jeeze.. give him a break, he is obviously very young or not and english speaker by birth or both.

You need to follow the advice here and try switching the server, otherwise try a reinstall of Stardock and start from scratch. If all else fails call your ISP... if that doesn't work then yes... get your 75% back and buy the game again... Sucks but you can't expect a good return policy on Downloads.

Does not mean it is on my end I spore with my ISP and everything is fine. I have further frustration because I payed for the game in advance pre ordering it and I am not even given my email with my game info and download link. I was not even aware the game was out. I had to call stardock and ask for my email that they were supposed to give me but failed. What exactly did I pay in advance for when I had to figure out that the game was out myself and do stardocks job for them. Now I go to install it and it wont download in a reasonable timeframe. Besides if I can download from another siteI even treid removing the router and direct connecting to the modem and it still is going slow and my modem blocks no ports. Even removing the router did nothing to help it do I hooked the router back up.

The Stardock servers have more than enough bandwidth. I downloaded from them two days ago at 700Kb/s so no problems there. The more likely culprit is that there is a problem on the line between you and the servers, which is out of the control of Stardock. If you know the IP of the Stardock servers, you can do a tracert on the line and see where the issue is - but as of two days ago, it is not Stardoc'ks issue.

If you just open up stardock central it will tell you any software that is updated.

And personally, I've never downloaded anything as fast as I did from stardock back in the beta, and after release I was still averaging over 300 kB/s

Well for me the BETA downloaded slower than most things... Ironically I get the best connections from File Planet :NOTSURE:

I got nearly 2 megabytes a second at max, averaged around 600 kb. That was on the busy day one. Not exactly a big file to get either.

Ok people; let's settle down :)

I just took the liberty of talking to a friend of mine who actually OWNS a server (And more) and according to him it's not common for someone to download at 10 gb's a second, as its rare and expensive, but it does exist.

In fact, there is an outfit that OFFERS 10 GB DOWNLOAD SPEED, Known as Nelson Cable

So in short, I highly doubt AVMF8 has such a connection, so I'm also in belief that he misspoke.

However, that doesn't excuse you, AVMF8, for being a complete child and not following the advice of your peers. People here are trying to help you, they aren't OBLIGATED to do so but they are doing it out of their free time and will.

Let me remind of you things: The net is unpredictable. You can download at a nice 500 KB/S from one site, but then download at a mere 54 KBs from another.

For my download from SD it originally started off at a mere 15 KBs a second, you want to know WHY? Because forgotten about a few file transfers I was doing to my FTP, as well as, a friend of mine transferring a file to my router. Both of which were eating up my bandwidth.

Now, I highly doubt you deal with a Linux router, nor do you have an FTP and manage files. So I'll cut you some slack and insist it’s an ISP issue.

Contrary to popular belief, ISPs don't always know what they are doing. Sometimes they'll claim your line is fine, where in reality it is not. A prime example is right now, my download/upload rate is very low now however my ISP claims it’s just fine and working as intended.

That was until a few minutes ago when they called back and apologized, saying that there is a down line in the area that could be the reason for my problems. (Now, why did they call me back? Don't know, perhaps they felt obligated to correct a mistake they made)

That right there could be your problem, while it may not be a line in your area, it could be a line in the general vicinity, somewhere outside your city and along the course to Stardocks server.

Also, just because the speed test shows you have a nice upload/download to the speed tests SERVER doesn't mean it’s the same to Stardocks SERVER. Again, the internet is not like that. A prime example is me, I have an excellent connection to Fenton, MI. However, in my attempt to Tracert Stardocks server I got varying degress of connection(including several disconnects, makes me wonder if Stardock doesn't want people tracerting). So just because you have a great upload/download speed, doesn’t mean you’ll get the same response from a server.

Now, please learn some manners and start treating those around you who are trying to help with some courtesy and respect. If you continue to disrespect everyone here you may suddenly find yourself WITH NO help at all.

Special Note: 3726 KB/s is NOT 600 MBs, its 3.6 MB's 

Comparison test:
This was to the furthest place that I know of on our lovely blue Earth (And no I'm not bragging, merely using this as an example)

THIS is to my general location (Nevada)

Notice a difference? Not really, now if I was to show you the information I got from tracerting, then you would really notice the difference. Though I'd love to give it, it seems I can't tracert them now (timeout just after leaving a router in Nevada) so perhaps later I'll post the results

booya my work connection!

Well it turns out it was not on my end at all. I go out come back start the download over and it is going 700 to 800 kb/sec. Compare that to under 1 kb/sec. As for that work connection of course that is going to download fast it is a buisness line they need huge bandwidth to manage all the comps they must have. What I think happened is for some reason the server was giving me no bandwidth and now it is giving me a actual usefull ammount of bandwidth.

Well yeah im sure my gps company has good speeds that and i selected the speed test place 5 miles from my building muhahahah!

On release day i was downloading at over 7 mb/s , the download took only a minute and half.

Give it a try now. There was a little wackiness that's been fixed today.
