Dude, where's my Sins?

Canadian retail, a myth?

So far I've been to 2 EB games, wal-mart, and two best buys. net result; nothing. the Canadian best buy site doesn't even have Sins listed. In store, the EBs got one copy each, and immediately sold them. download isn't an option for me. so, what am i going to do? apparently, noone bothered to market the game in Canada, despite ironclad being based here.

Canada is slightly delayed in getting it it seems. The bigger stores should be getting it in next week, though. I'd expect EB would at least let you special order for the next shipment as well.

Canadian retailers (all of them) only ordered about 2400 units total. That sold out in a matter of hours. Call it poor planning on the retailers' part but we did warn them to carry the game in quantity. Just goes to show that PC gaming is not dead! ;)

They should have more units early next week if not Saturday. Some stores will pay for overnight shipping to their warehouses.

when i asked the lads at EB if they expected to get another shipment, they said "we don't". I left thinking "Gee, you guys are awfully useful sorts, eh?"

Yeah, I'd say the retailers need to reexamine what was in their timmies if they thought it wasn't going to fly... PC gaming isn't dead, it's just been crippled by industry attitude towards it. I'll be watching for it then.

Aye ive got the same issue. My local EB told me they got a whole 2 copies on the debut and the game didnt even make it to the shelf. I went to both Future Shop and EB on Wednesday to pick it up unfortunatly there wasnt any and they told me to come Friday. Come Friday I left both stores with a crushing dissapoinment and neither stores know when another shipment is coming. (:( (:( (:( (:(

Yep. This happens every time we release a game.

We're told PC strategy games are dead by retailers and they won't stock more than 1 or 2 units per store.

Then they sell out instantly.

Same thing happened with GalCiv.

At my gamestop, I was the only one who preordered it, and so they only got one, which was mine. When I went to pick it up the guy hadn't even unboxed it yet, and had to dig to find it in a box full of other crap. I asked if I could go ahead and buy another one for a friend of mine who was at work and he told me he didn't get any more, because I was the only person to preorder. So the moral is, if you want a game, pre-order it.

Its sad with brick and mortar stores now. They seem to have a vendetta against PC games in general. Back when I wanted Ground Control II, I went to a EB Games and couldn't find it on a shelf, I had to ask them and the cashier wondered out back after asking what exactly it was.  :NOTSURE: He manged to find it though. Similar thing happened with CoH, CoH:OF, and even the Orange Box. Except rather then not even being on the shelf at all they were wedged in between such classics like Barby Horse Adventure and Halo 1. In a small inconspicuous shelf with no markings whats so ever. Surrounded by X-Box games. In what could of been the naughty area of another store  :(

Yeah i dodged a bullet with this one. I checked the availability online and in a ten mile radius, it was 1-3 copies in one gamestop. And the ONE copy they had was hidden in a lowershelf like some two bit rollercoaster tycoon clone or a dora the explorer game :( . And the xbox games that are half the number take half the store(the 2x the price of the pc rack).

Seems like the gamestops only got one copy. Mine only got one copy and it wasnt even out of the shipping box. Yet they got about 8 copies of Turok for the 360 :( . I would take a unique strategy game over generic first person shooter number 2035 any day.

I remember reading a couple years ago that with the release of Vista, Microsoft was going to make a big push to help bring attention to PC gaming in shops... including buying prominent shelf space if necessary. Boy, that happened.

It really is frustrating to be a PC gamer. The market is going to consoles. The problem with consoles however, is they're not designed for the type of games I like to play. Like sins.

On the bright side, my Gamestop had at least 2 or 3 pre-orders and a couple on the shelf that went really quick. I bought mine online through Stardock. I figured that I preferred that they get most of the money from the sale instead of a brick and mortar shop.

Stardock is the classiest game company out there, and it looks like Ironclad is doing a good job of following their lead.
