How do I allocate more memory to make it faster?

Halflife 2 has "-heapsize 512000" to make the game use 512mb of ram, which can really smoothen up the experience. Can this be done with SINS? Is it necessary with SINS?

Sins will consume as much RAM as it needs and you have free.

I'm not sure if this 100% true or not.

I have 2GB of RAM, and 512MB of VRAM (on an 8800GT), and I still get momentary hiccups when panning the camera over certain objects, suggesting there's additional texture loading going on or something. Not really an issue...just a minor annoyance, is all.
