Post 1.02 Bugs Here

Post 1.02 Bugs Here

I didnt see a post for 1.02 bugs, so here it is.

1) Holding shift in black market no long seems to let you sell in bulk. The number stays at 100 and shift doesnt do anything.

2) Artifact planets are being displayed as having artifacts before they have even been explored. The icon showed up on a planet that I hadnt been to. Perhaps it was because I was advent and hadnt been advent before, so maybe they have some inherent skill for detecting artifacts. Just thought I should post it anyway.

3) Not really a bug, but the superweapons still dont have a quick icon in the planetary menu for activation. It would be nice to simply select the planet and then select the superweapons function and then the target.

Please post all 1.02 bugs here.

Thanks

I noticed an interesting trend today with my ships. Occasionally they would leave their fleet to go off on their own, occasionally even jumping to systems that I never ordered them to jump to. The light carrier seemed to be the biggest culprit, but i also saw my heavy cruisers doing this as well. I also had a problem several times when I canceled an ordered phase jump to deal with an incomming fleet only to have half of my fleet jump out anyways in the middle of the engagement

I have been encountering weird movement a lot as well, I think it could be due to the game misinterpreting right mouse clicks. In theory a quick click should be the context sensitive action (like move) while long click is rotate camera, but a few times after medium length clicks (when all I wanted was a quick camera rotate) the game still chose the context action to move. So if you want to move the camera be sure to hold the mouse button down for a good half second first or beware. I wish it was more sensitive, but perhaps it was done this way to appeal to all the slow clicking players.

I have one bug/problem to contribute with that hasn't been mentioned thus far.

1) The Advent Destra Crusader ability is neigh useless. It doesn't stack! So if you have 10-20 crusaders all you end up with is 1.5 dps on adjacent ships, which is utterly pathetic :) ยจ

Edit: Recalled another issue a fried of mine was having, more of an exploit.
He had 2 "allied" AIs, he could send them to the same system with the ping function, and as they were hostile to eachother, they would go there and blow eachother up :)

@Vanchelon - That is cool. I'm not sure it would really be considered an exploit since they could very well become friends on their own. Moreover to make a check for friendship with none AI players prior to movement would work against game dynamics methinks. It is kind of dirty but sounds fun however.

Dunno if it's post-1.02 because my issue is related to a bug while I'm in an Ironclad online game (tried as both host and as a joiner). I updated my game through stardock's Update button. I did not try an ICO game while I was in 1.01, but only post-patch.

Also note that the issue doesn't affect single player gameplay at all. I've been able to successfully play a full game under 1.01, and just testing it out in 1.02 doesn't reproduce my problem.

The problem (again, inside an ICO game only): I can't select ships. At all. I can build planet improvements, I seem to be able to build research buildings, but whenever the game is waiting for a left click mouse input (ie: waiting for a location so it knows where I want the buildings I'm constructing, waiting for a rally point location), it's either not registering the click at all + leaving me in that mouse input wait phase, or it registers the click silently + didn't give me a visual cue about the legal areas where I could put down a building, for example.

So in those games, I can successfully build a few scouts, a colony ship, but I can't use them. I can build a research station and start to queue up some research projects, but it's of course totally unplayable because I can't move any ships.

I don't know if this is a bug more than a feature request. I wish the game would recognize the dell touchpad scrollbars as the mouse wheel on my laptop. Using the key bindings for zooming is very clunky and makes it very difficult to play on a laptop.

I found my problem!

I use xfire extensively, and its hotkey was tied to CTRL-# (character just to the left of the keyboard's main '1' key, not the keypad's). Sins' default key bindings has # assigned to empire view pinning, and ctrl does something else as well. In any case, the in-game mouse cursor changes to reflect the change that ctrl does, so I can just push that again to cancel it.

Another problem, I ahd framerate issues with patch 1.01, got rid of them by lowering the exhaust trail detail (freaky but it works). Since installing 1.02 the framerate drops are back, and i can't seem to solve them anymore, going to try a reinstall without 1.02 now.

It gives a an Empire Seeks to Bribe are aggression message when I put a bounty on someone.

Just noticed this while playing Advent so it could be localized to them but I doubt it.

Sometimes the game will stop drawing certain kinds of particle graphics, such as the bullet-like gunfire from some ships, or the explosions when things are destroyed. I'll be able to zoom in on, say, a group of vasari light frigates, and I can hear them firing and watch their target's HP go down, but I won't see any bullets coming out of the frigates.

Another one, that can be abused.
It seems the AI doesn't re-evaluate targets at all/alot unless its a colony ship.
I.e, you can send in your capital ship to a neutral planet first, and the AI will never change targets. Similarily you can send in say, a scout first, and then set a long patrol path. The AI will chase the scout around and around, not managing to kill it. Meanwhile yer free to pick off the defenders :p
Granted this doesn't work with the empire AI, as they would just run away or switch target if you came in with a bigger force then theirs.
It does prove a cheesy way to take over heavily defended neutral planets early on.

The speaking of reevaluation, at least in my game as the Vasari, I have a complete capital ship fleet. I have one of each ship and oddly enough nothing ever attacks my colony ship. Even if there are dozens of enemies sitting next to it they will fly around it. It appears the targeting priority is:

1. Dreadnought
2. Battleship
3. Carrier
4. Support
5. Colony

Call me crazy but the colony ship would be my highest priority. '

BTW: The locking up on movement going to the right and top is really killing the game for me now. I have also asked several of the GE clan members and they are also experiencing it.

I often can't select properly some planets when I change the angle of the camera and zoom in. The area use for clicking is too small(size of the icon), displaced or inexistant.
It works whatever the angle for the first world but not for the others.

I've had this happen too, in some scenario maps the "selection area" for a planet is displaced significantly from where the planet actually appears, and I have to zoom way out to click on the planet.

Don't know if visual "bugs" go in here as well. Anyway two of the inside faces on the Kol Class model have their normals inverted, thus they show up as holes... was a bit hard to spot but they're definitely not missing faces.

I am still having problems with ships disappearing as they are destroyed. Sometimes the explosions don't even appear or I get secondary explosions but the final explosion is missing. Really starting to bug me now (no pun intended) and it spoils the viewing pleasure of an otherwise awesome battle.

Please, please fix this. I doubt it is my graphics card, as I get no other problems other than stupid frame rates during intense battles (fine one minute, low FPS the next)โ€ฆ itโ€™s really odd. I have tried other drivers and one of my friends has the same problem.

I got some weird movements, too. I ordered a Destra Crusader to a planet and it also stated its target in the datacard. But it went through this well to the next one. I then ordered it back during the phase jump and it again overshot in the other direction and the weird thing is that another Destra followed its heels!

As far as I can remember I ordered the one Destra during phase jumps only.

Besides that its non-stackable ability must be a bug. That high in the tech tree it should do something more when the cruisers focus fire.

When this is happening, do you also have "invisible gunfire" from certain types of weapons? If so, it sounds like the same thing I've been noticing.

Now that you mention it, I'm sure I was missing some beam weapons fire during my last battle, unless the AI went a bit funny and my ships were doing nothing for a while. Lasers and auto cannon seem fine. Not sure about flak, can't remember noticing it.

Thought I would mention the group move bug here again. The ctrl hotkey alternate function it has (which claims to toggle group move on/off but I wish it was just a single group move command) doesn't do any group move at all. It is the exact same as the regular hotkey in function, just a regular group command. If you want tog group move you must manually right click the button, and if you want a single group move you must manually right click the button, then issue orders, then right click to turn it off again. Something is wrong here.

Also did you guys get around to fixing the bug where the Vasari cap that drops siege turrets would autocast drop them too far from targets? I haven't had time to play a Vasari recently to find out.

When trying to build structures, I've occasionally been stuck where the game continues to tell me, no matter where I try to build the object 'another structure is in the way'. Clicking to a different planet and clicking back seems to fix it. I've seen it happen several times in several different games, but sadly, I don't have a sure-fire way of making it happen.

I get this also, it just seems to happen randomly. Saving the game then going to menu and then reloading the save fixes this.

Vid card is a HD3850 running Catalyst 8.451.0.0 drivers, didn't notice this issue in earlier builds of Sins.

I also noticed that sometimes some sounds stop playing sometimes (happened once during the very start of a game). I couldn't hear unit voice-overs or other sounds, only the music. This has happened once so far.

The "R" key is supposed to trigger a retreat. I push it and nothing happens. I have to order the retreat by selecting the icon.

The vertical scroll bar isn't working properly. As planets/fleets are added, the bar appears. But when I try to scroll down or up, the ships/planet icons disappear from the screen and don't come into view.

The auto-addition to fleets seem to have a "stealth" mode. I turned it off for both fleets (to distribute reinforcements) but newly arriving ships still join one of the fleets. Frequently, if I select a group of ships to add to an existing fleet, an equal number of ships will split off from the fleet and start their own fleet.

I've just noticed a strange bug of sorts. On the Radiance battleship of the Advent, the info card for the Detonate Anti-matter ability really slows down the game's FPS while its displaying.

This is strange because the other info cards that display for the other abilities on the very same ship do not have any effect on FPS.

This is related to the text message FPS slow-down, there is definately a bug somewhere with the text.

whoever mentioned the constant crashing when zooming and in and out since 1.02 I'm in the exact same boat.

Been trying to watch a replay by someone Willburn Leinad vs Conan and Rokkit (posted in these forums) and it's always crashing 5 mins into the game.

Vista 32bit
2 gigs ram?
umm 8800 gts 640 mb with gfx on highest settings? was fine before 1.02
