What are the Vasarii runing from?

What are the Vasarii runing from?

Can they pull it off creatively?

You know, I like the whole Vasarii storyline but it has me wondering, what is it that's hunting them down?
No doubt its being saved for the expansion or the campaign or some such. But my question is do you think the devs can be creative about this one?
It seems that we've seen all the options for "big bad mystery aliens" before though. Ancients, Killer Robots, Organic ship aliens out to consume all organic life, Bigger aliens than the ones you're fighting? All done. Though no one's gone with the monster being some sort of god...wait Star Trek did that one in a movie didn't they? Hmmm...

So, any original suggestions as to what would make a good ORIGINAL "big bad mystery monster"?

some overconfident vasari engineering crew was messing around with a PJI, trying to understand it (for such an advanced piece of tech it sure is weak!) then they released some energy cascade, boom, and then released a flow of anti-phasespace energy somethingorother rendering phasespace impossible within that region, basically f-ing the vasari over REAL good.

although, admittedly, doesnt really explain the crazy people...

Or the fact that an entire wing of their fleet was completely destroyed. :P

it just cant phasespace anywhere, considering its the *vasari* thats pretty much all you need to destroy them :d

Yes, except for that one odd ship that was able to escape and carry back the news of the utter destruction that happened.

Plus carrying on with your theory this anomoly will keep spreading forever and eventually reach Trade Space screwing everyone over. That would stop all the wars though.

But the more the Vasari kill their past, the more they kill themselves. The further in the future you go the greater the amount of gone people. You kill Vasari#83821 and all of a sudden a genious inovator and his 89 awesome pilots of win dissapear, and now all sorts of things change and either their up against 9000 more people or 9000 less.

Unless the timeline the future Vasari came from is one in which they went back to the past, in that case only those who survive the Vasari attacks are able to attack the Vasari in the past.

In other words the future Vasari's ancestors are all the Vasari who escape the invasion and survive the trip to the edge of the galaxy, only to go back in time in an attempt to stop the event from happening and cause it all over again (leading their ancestors to escape and survive and continue it)...

*Heavy Sigh*

We all know only one thing could make badass, hair metal singing, chain smoking, space ponie riding aliens run like little girls do from cooties.

They must be running from the Vorgons. With all the bad poetry and the Vorgons getting "a little nuts" whenever they destroy a planet.

I guess nobody got my reference to Hitch Hikers guide to the Galaxy.

Probably because you misspelled Vogon.

Since the Vasarii were significantly advanced, they attempted a game with a thousand stars. Doing away with the fleet cap limit, they conquered the majority of the galaxy with ease until they got bombed by something. Ships were hastily built, forged into fleets and sent out to combat this mysterious enemy which intensified their attack with each minute. Evidence on the lone Dark Star ship was discovered that the enemy were ships mistakenly ordered by the Vasarii to attack the wrong targets, namely, their own empire. With a billion ships to track and planets being destroyed every moment, they scrammed from their own cluster&$#*.

I hope its not the "aliens invaders from phase space" scenario, cause that would be sooo overdone.

I've got the Shivans on line one... and several dozen Sathanas-class juggernauts near the local star.

Maybe it was all a hoax... you know, purposely going silent, and sending a purposely dilapidated spaceship filled with the best actors in the race to Vasari World 369 to make them think something had gone terribly wrong and sending them on a wild run, with a single Skirmisher constantly chasing after them to destroy their warning beacons and make sure those fools don't come back.

Just like the Golgafrinchans.

On a more serious note, they may be running from the Thalans or maybe the Dread Lords. Or the creators of the Phase Jump Inhibitor(the Space Ponies!).
