Price of capital ships too cheap?

I'm exhausted so I'll try my best to present my case, forgive me if I make sense not.

So anyway, I had my first multiplayer game and I got my ass kicked, after analyzing why I lost, I concluded that it was because of my lack of capital ships. My opponent, started venturing out of his home planet with 2 capital ships and just pushing away my fleets. How did he do that? Simple. Sit, and wait for the resources to flow, and ignore those temples of hostilities. Ta-da, easy 2 capital ships in early game.

What an average player would do is expand his base, stock up on Hostilies/Harmonies and research better ships. But a spam of capital ships will knock apart DroneBay Ships and the like.

So, should the price of capital ships be increase to say, 4,500 creds from the 3,000?
Just wondering your opinion, yeah, so yeah. Unity has fallen silent on one of our colonies. :C

Playing as Advent is probably more the reason you got killed. It's the hardest of the three factions to play, and until late game (level 6+), their cap ships are weaker then everyone else's. Cap ship cost is fine imho.

Just get a good hard counter to capital ships and you should be tearing them down in no time tbh. (Bombers, LRM frigates, etc anything with rockets or bombs focussing fire)

The game is about choices, going for multiple capital ships fast supported by some weak ships and a weak economy or teching up and building up economy and a much more modern fleet. Etc

I usually tech up a little first and get a strong economy/modern fleet before going for my second capital ship. Once I've achieved this, I'll have a lot more resources coming in and I'll be able to purchase a number of capital ships much faster.
(And I'll be able to support them by a much more modern fleet)

When defending against capital ships, especially the hangars are golden in defending your planets.

Yeah have to agree with most replies here ;). the cost is fine and besides when the capital ships start to blow up left & right it hurts enough to replace them with "newbie" crew.

Yeah, don't think caps need any price modification.
And that thing about advent ships being the weakest? Yeah, that's a joke, right?

Maybe tie the cap ship and fleet cap researches togeather, so having more than one capital ship will cost you upkeep even if all you have is the two ships.

Not quite. Their ships are a little weaker in some ways than other races, but make up for it via abilities -- if you didn't choose the "right" abilities, you may have weakened yourself against enemy capitols.

Advent are the weak race vs the Vasari :p

Advent are weak if you don't know how to combine their incredibly combinable and easily intuitive ships. But then again, if you don't know how to do that, you should b playing a tank rush, not this gem.

Early game it is retarded that people can afford to get 3-4 capital ships. I lost a game the other day on Point Blank because some guy just turtled his base, build 4 capitals, and jumped them in and out of my capital (couldn't catch him) until finally my fleet was dead and then he blew up my planets (despite him only having his capital, I killed everything else).

What ships do anti-capital damage?

Its still really early for retail people to be talking about balance.

By all means, educate us o' great one. I grovel before your infinite wisdom and knowledge of a game that has been out for less then a week. I beg forgiveness for my lack of skill. I prostrate myself before the almighty knowledge which only you can bestow. Enlighten us mere mortal men...we beg of thee.

Good, you know your place. Now, bow and grovel!
What I meant to say is that Advent are just more dependant on the combined arms game, and if played smart, they can achieve the same results the other races can with less resources invested. The abilities of their ships complement each other more than the combinations of other races that I've foind so far.

You have to add in the cost of the training of more crews as well with those capitals.

Its kinda funny taking out somebodys capitals when they are trying to do that rush, and watch them exit the game. I actually spied one guy doing it early, built up for him to come to me, he warped in..looked at my fleet, and just left the game...ticked me off. People that do that stuff are cheap.
