There, I said it. 6 Players is the optimum player amount IMO and 1 star system allows fast battles. 30 Planets sound nice.

Not sure what you mean by random, but Razors Edge is my favorite map so far. 6 players, 20 planets, one star. Its more of a 3v3 map though, with two sides and a choke point in the middle.

It'd be extremely easy to set something like that up with the in-game editor.

Large Scenarios > Grindstone. 25 planets, 1 star, 1 pirate base, and can be played with up to 8 players. I just played it, it's pretty fun.
