Digital Option - Future Proof?

Hey folks. I'm really eagre to get my hands on this game, and my local game store didn't order any copies so I have a week at least to wait.

My question is about the digital download option for purchasing online.

In other games that have offered digital options, they almost always get the shaft. Patches, fixes, mods, tech support, almost always comes with a disclaimer stating "not available for digital versions"

Is SoaSE going to be the same? I understand Stardock has a reputation for trust in the consumer, but don't want to shoot myself in the foot for future patches if i go a purchase off the site and download.

Thanks in advance.

The way Stardock games pirate-proof themselves is making it so that you need an authentic key to patch. The retail versions are actually the ones who are a bit inconvenienced, because as far as I know you can't get patches outside of Stardock's client so if you don't have an internet connection you are completely boned.

Short answer: Stardock is not Direct2Drive.
