Take it easy :)

Just a short post to say how surprised i am to see fair few posts criticizing some gameplay mechanics like OPs were playing the game for a month and not just for few hours...

This game requires fair bit of time - i would say at least 2 weeks of active playing before you finally conclude what you like or what you hate about it...

People need to take it easy with this one since this game is HUGE - i mean its not COD4 or anything with "plug and play" attitude... It requires time - both online and vs AI :)

So i think from now on i will simply ignore all the "negative gameplay threads" and start reading them and paying proper attention to it some time next month...

So far only thing i can say is that i wasn't hooked to a computer game so much as i am hooked to Sins since jezuz lord almighty knows when...

Awesomeness in true sense of the word!

Will it need further patches? Well, of course! We already had 2 since game came out :CONGRAT: So take it easy - play the game and THINK before you post since i am sure sensible comments and constructive criticism will influence further patching work...

Thats all

No offense, but the critiques I've been reading have been, for the most part, rather sensible. Over time, the game will improve, but I'm not certain why people should be silent in their opinions for two weeks. In that case, people praising the game should be silent also, since it's only safe to assume, once the excitement dies down, that some people might start disliking the game.

@heflys

Sure i agree...

Maybe i wasn't clear enough :s

I wasn't referring to all sensible posts made (there is fair few of them too) full of positive constructive criticism but to other lot which is "spammed out" after only few hours of gameplay...

I mean you cant possibly "conclude" something for certain after only few hours of gameplay in this game - its impossible...

I am referring to that guys really - not to beta testers or indeed guys who spend some time playing this game and are coming to forums making their concerns heard in polite, to the point way...

Hope this is clear now :)

If you just installed and played only for few hours - well give it some more time, read gameplay hints in forums, ask, think etc... before making some "game sucks" threads...

It's a fair post but unfortunatly it seems that alot of people aren't capable of putting their problems with the game in a structured constructive way so they just tend to go with the "Omg I am rubbish at dat game, why is it not Starcraft!?1". Alot of the criticism i've noticed is mostly minor issues but gets blown way out of proportion for example the siege frigate issue, which isn't actually an issue at all if you know how to play and counter this tactic.

I don't mind constructive criticism that is polite, thought out and meaningful - heck we've been asking for it since last march and its worked out great for Sins' development. The shouting, exagerations, rudeness, demands, threats, blowing things out of proportion and ridiculous conduct of some of the posters just aren't going to persuade anyone to back their case and that includes us developers. Surely, things would run smoother if both sides acted civilized?

In otherwords I back Nephilim and I appreciate his post. "Take it Easy"

Exactly what i am talking about... :)

There is fair few other threads which are simple result of inexperience rather than fault with game design - and again, they aren't titled with "please help and how" attitude but "game sucks" one...

I mean at least try to title your posts in appropriate way if nothing else :s

I concur, most topics don't blow out of proportion until someone comes along stating things like: "You noobs need to learn how to play the game!" (or something about being in the beta). "Stop complaining and do this!" (even though the OP already did!!), or "Stop complaining until you've played the game for several days!!" (this is a problem only when the OP didn't state how long he has been playing.), or the infamous "Don't listen devs, it'll ruin the game!!". Generally, after all this has transpired, the topic delves into an argument.

Occasionally a topic creator makes ridiculous complaints, but it's pretty evident when they're trolling.

when did they beta start?

also, i agree. When I see game-mechanic complaining I can only think of one thing, this guy wants the devs to make his game, instead of theirs.

yes i did, although i've been seeing the abreviation SSE quite often aswell, even in a Dev post or two i believe. :) Also, its customary to not include words like "of" and "a" in an abreviation. ;)

Technically it should be SSE, but meh. "Sins" is so much better ;)

Too all over agitating people, here's a song for you!

Laid Back - Baker Man

Baker man is baking bread
Sagabona kunjani wena
The night train is coming
Got to keep on running
Baker man is baking bread
Baker man is baking bread
You've got to cool down
Take it easy
You've got to cool down
Relax take it easy
Slow down relax
(repeat)

It's too late to worry
Slow down take it easy

Yeah, i know, the lyrics make so sense at all (no pun intended).

Ack, I tend to exaggerate, now I feel bad :(

It's just that when I type in my minor grievances they always seem so petty I sometimes feel the need to illustrate them with worst case scenarios.

For people who played other games like GalCiv, Homeworld, Hegemonia, Nexus or is used to MMO's buffs and synergies, this game is rather quick to understand - it's all connected and it gets pretty intuitive as you go along.

There's people who just started to play the game, like me, but already engaging in the forums, already with ideas and likes and dislikes. As long as its civil and constructive, I don't see the problem on engaging in the forums whether within months or days.

I do agree that knee-jerk reactions, rants and whining are not as prolific as sound criticism. But they can be a good indicator on how a casual player's first reaction is, which could help mitigate gameplay accessibility in the future.

Anyway, take it easy is a good advice.

I just hope not to rant or whine too much myself!

You know, the problem with Kerberos and SOTS was they were too closed to criticism and would mistreat anyone who stopped by with suggestions or didn't like the game (culminating in their e-feud with Tom Chick at QT3)

The problem here seems to be the opposite, a patch-based method of copy protection seems to invite people who want you to give them handouts. I've seen more elegant discourse in a World of Warcraft class forum.

Take the money and run, Blair.  :CONGRAT:
