Blurry Text @1440x900 @60hz

Hi, I just bought this game. Set up my settings and found that I am getting blurry text at my native res 1440X900 in game, also icons are pretty ulgy looking. Any one else getting this?

Monitor is: Viewsonic VA1912WB
GFX Card: EVGA 8800GT 512mb
Processor: Athlon X2 6000+ 3.1ghz

I will post a SS later. Off to church.

Aside from the horrible jpeg artifacting in that image, it looks pretty normal.

He has exactly the same ViewSonic VA1912wb 17-inch-widescreen model as I have !

Our native resolution is 1440 x 900 @ 60 MHz, exactly as he said.

I play the game in a slightly smaller window (1360 x 768).

I will launch the game and set it at a 1440 x 900 fullscreen, as he did, and I shall report back here on what I see (for example : if I have some blurry text, like him).

My videocard is a 6800, with the 169.21 (12/07) drivers.

I have never experienced such visual problems, since the June beta, but I have always played in a window.

BRB

EDIT I just checked at a 1440 x 900 @ 60 MHz fullscreen setup. What he describes does not occur on my own ViewSonic monitor : NO BLURRY TEXT in the infocards.

I took a look at that screen shot and really don't anything that I would call blurry. Can you draw a circle around what you think is blurry?

I have a Samsung 941BW and the native is 1440x900 and I play it at 60hz and I've notice no issues at all. I believe I have the AA at 2 since that was the default. I'll try it at 4x later and see if I notice any changes.

I experience no blurring in the infocard texts, despite the fact that I do not use any AA in SINS (to not overburden my 2 year-old 6800).

I have exactly the same model of ViewSonic monitor as the Original Poster.

.. its probably a Display thing. Are you using VGA or DVI connection? Use DVI if you can .. or check VGA cable for damage/connection problems. what is near the cable? maybe some powerful subwoofer or radio or smth? moove it. Is the cable Standart lengh i mean 1-2 m long? if its some sort of 5m long there could be problems
The reason we dont see blurines because the game deosn't generate any, it comes out crisp clear out of thebox and ... arrives not so crisp .. its either the cable or the LCD.

I think what he's trying to say is that the text isn't blurry, but rather that it's squeezed closer together and hard to read. I set up sins on my widescreen laptop at 1680x1050 with perfectly readable, spaced-out text. However, sins runs slow at that res, so I downsized my rez to 1440x900 and the text immediately compressed. It doesn't bother me much, but what is unusual is that the text doesn't really get much more compressed at even lower resolutions, so I'm confused as to the cause of such a quick drop in text quality.

themidgethotel - After reading your post, I looked at the screen shot again and yeah, on the smaller text, the letters might be a tad closer but nothing that makes it hard to read.

I did my test and set it to 4x, I didn't notice any difference in the text.

Sorry, I am not seeing the blurry area.

I've had the same problem with my text. It made the game very difficult to read. A way that I found to reduce the problem was to run the game in window mode. It's really a visual perception problem brought about because the text appears to be set to bold. It causes my eyes to blur the text together. Its like the font needs to be changed.

Is that your native monitor resolution?

It may not be a game/graphics card issue, but more of a monitor thing

When was the last time you cleaned your monitor? :P I didn't notice anything blurry in that screen shot. Looks just like mine really.

Big Rich1 i found a font mod called xiskios font mod 0.7 which changes the front so that it is readable. do a search and you should be able to find it. it really helped.
