Game works perfectly until I close it

The game always works perfectly the first time I turn it on in the morning. Yet after I close it after the hours of gameplay I put into it, if I try to open the game again it always freezes moments after I load a game.

Restarting doesn't help. I guess I'll try to shut down the computer and wait a bit, then load the game again, but this seems like a very strange issue.

Still nothing worked. I have the hotfix patch for windows, and I have the latest drivers... yet still almost EVERY time I try to play the game.. less than a minute in it just freezes. I have to manually turn off the computer every time too.

It really annoys me because I just played earlier today for 3 hours with not a single thing going wrong. I don't know why it seems that only randomly the game works perfectly. That's my ONLY complaint with what is otherwise an amazing game.

I just turn the computer on. Wait for all my other stuff to load. Close pretty much everything. Then I turn SSE on, load my game (which takes forever to load when it's going to freeze) and then get about 20 seconds of choppy play before it freezes.

Yet other times... (so far 4ish times out of about 16-17 times ive tried playing the game)... it plays perfectly and smoothly for hours.

At this point... I have no clue whats wrong.

(BTW, SD / IC, if you do figure out whats wrong let us know so those of us who are helping you out on the technical support forums can relay the info to others with the same problem... please? Even if its a "wait for patch" thingey!)

I'd like to suggest downloading 3 or 4 different pieces of anti-virus/adware/spyware software and run scans with them all.

I usually reboot before starting another game of Sins because it seems to not close all the resources out properly after you exit the game. At least, if I don't it seems to be sluggish and lag more, but maybe it's all in my head!

I probably have the exact same issue. When I shut down Sins, it doesn't actually -shut down- in my processes.

I haven't been able to even check to see if it leaves processes open because the game hasn't even run past the point of me being able to exit yet. Now it's even right when I turn my computer on... wait for everything to load. I close all my programs that aren't SSE, and then turn it on. Within 20-30 seconds it freezes and won't even let me alt-tab out or ctrl-alt-delete out. Then I manually restart and do the whole thing over again.

It's extremely frustrating because it was working FINE yesterday for 3 straight hours of gameplay, and now it won't even start up hardly.

Well I did a system restore to before I put on the newer nvidia driver, and it ran fine for about an hour, then froze. Tried again after restart. Froze. This is extremely annoying :(.

If it's not some kind of virus, it sounds to me like it may be an overheating problem. What kind of processor/video card are you using and how hot are they getting? Do you have adequate cooling in your computer? Are your fans clogged with dust? Download and install Speedfan (http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php) and after playing for 30 or 40 minutes, see how hot your processor is. You can't tell if your video card is overheating without some kind of external sensor, but typically it will cause your video to start screwing up before you crash.

Are you running Vista? If so try installing this patch. I had the same problem in Vista 64 and this fixed it completely.

Please write [email protected] with your forum name, a description of the problem and any dump files generated. We'll need those to track it down.

It should happen automatically when the game crashes.

If that's the case where do I find it? The game crashes regularly, but it freezes my computer to the point I have to manually power it off.
