What would you like to have in an expansion?

I was just wondering what neat features or things you want ingame to make it an even better game!

I would like the following:

1. To be able to construct a forward base or outpost of some kind on non colonizable planets/others. Like on a debris sector. To be able to build an outpost there to buff up some defense. Or to be able to build a research center at a wormhole/gas giant/plasma field and so on.

2. A new race ^^

3. A sp campaign

4. A third ship-type (frigates -> cruisers -> battleships are the current standing. Something like this: Frigates -> Cruisers -> Destroyers -> Battleships

5. Random events: Earthquakes on planets, solar storms. And other imaginative events that will help you or make you suffer

6. Upgradable planet defenses. Maybe adding a fifth beam cannon on the advents defense? And i want to be able to view the upgrades.

7. To be able to build domed cities in/around gas giants

Things I would love to see.

1. HEROES! I've been asking for heroes from GalCiv2 and no luck. I WANT hero captains in this game.

2. Simple to use User Created Campaign. I want to create my own campaign with my own story.

3. Complex star bases like in Galciv 2.

4. Planetary invasion.

For what it is worth I think we can mod heroes/captains into the game via the tech tree as upgrades.

People always set their sights so low on topics like these. I want a new race in the next patch. In the expansion I want forty new races.

A good tool to make campaigns with a flexible "programming" tool (like Starcraft/Warcraft for example).

There are two things that help a game to survive: MP and user created content.

MP is good, modding will be good too I guess but missions and campaigns are needed.

The ability to build a space station/some sort of floating outpost in sectors that have no planets and are not colonizable (i.e. debris fields, storm sectors, etc)

1.- A 3 stage upgrade for slowing enemy phase jumps down between your planet, and a 3 stage high level research for holding enemies and warning you about enemies trying to phase jump through your planets (through the "Threat Report"), as I suggested, is more ideal (and also makes the PJI "super" to use in the later stage of a game, be it a medium or large map).
Im all against oversimplified solutions, and deepen the PJI aspect would be good for this game.

2.- More portraits for players to choose from.

3.- Make it so that you can only view stats after a MP game has finished, so players dont spy on each other when quitting a saved MP game.

4.- A similar button to game/research speed set to low/normal/high for unit cap ^^.

5.- Im pretty sure not all of these could make it into the patch but they are relevant: Moons and space stations, defended special planets with that give access to constructing special units/research/items and more types of special areas,
more logistic type buildings, more research items + tons of more types of artifacts. ^.^

6.- More unit types for all races and more races later on (probally save the new races for an exspansion, I dont know how far Stardock will go with patches) ^.^

7.- Orbital planets. ^^

+ Things I can't come to think of now as most of these I want for patches. I don“t think we will get an exspansion so soon, let them patch the game a bit first, so these are in reality patch wishes from me ;p.

Easier online functionality, aside from that a campaign for SP. I'm already kinda getting bored of SP maps without any story to them and have yet to get online functioning properly.

MOre playable races

To be able to produce a few more Fighters and bombers from the hangers

Few more defense systems for planets (Rocket Battery) also be nice to have the upgrade for this games as well.

leave the pirates out and maybe add an option on sins as an upgrade to turn pirates off...spend more time and money upping the bounty than i spend on ships later in the game. or at least double the time segments for the attacks

What about replacing pirtaes with natural disasters to some of the planets...sloar storms...fall out from battles near the planets, meteor....course then you'd have to have a damage meter for the planet..

Being able to scavenge wreckage would be nice and getting resources for it...have scavenger drones....wreckage refinery for recycling the metal

Possible planetary defenses....literally on the planet...ot maybe a group of ships actually come from the planet and c an defend it when foes show up....launch when enemy gets within a certain range...tech tree for type of crafts and upgrades on all it

I'd like a new race, but as I'm pretty sure that they're already planning to introduce whatever it is that's chasing the Vasari, I don't think I actually need to ask for one. ;)

I would like to have moons orbiting planets. Where I could build structures on the surface of or subsurface of these moons.

Good missions are much more than a wall of text.

And regardless of the missions a book is nothing more than a "wall of text", too... but also so much more.
Cut out every pic from sins and rename units and races with cryptic stuff like: race_01_frigate_01
Would make the game much more dull, wouldn't it.

lol that just killed me and your rite. More "Wall of Text" 4 sp would be awesome. I thought the game came with a campaing but no i jumped str8 into mp lol. What i would like though is a suicidal ai difficulty ala gal civ plus all the feasible wishes mentioned before my post

Unique super-ships.

Like TEC could build a super battleship (follows basic human thinking: bigger is better). It can be powerful but very slow and with one special ability.

The Varisi could have a ship that can cloak a fleet for a limited time. Costs a HUGE amount of antimatter and the ships cannot fire under cloak.

And the Advent could have a ship that converts an entire planet to its side. dunno what could off set this though

I'd like to see an option for piloting a bomber/fighter. Have the rest of the squadron follow your lead. Simple controls. When you die, jump to another craft in the same squadron. Or maybee manning a battle station on a larger ship. I think it would add a new level of intensity in a major battle.

I also like the idea of having moons around some planets. Maybee adding a layer to planetary defense or civics or perhaps producing a special unit.

More ships.

1. Make the races less alike. Instead of of them having pretty much the same ship types and cap ship types make 1 race reley mainly on capital ships but have next to nothing for frigetes. or one the has mainly fighter squadrens and that come with all cruisers and there are only like 2 or 3 cap ships avaliable for them but the carrier can hold like 2 squadrens

2. more types of fighters and bombers... minor variations but one like one that is really fast and highly agile but really low hit points, bomber that has nukes and alot of dabage but really slow but hit hit points.

3. Better diplomacy Right now all the races have ADHD and you have 20 mins to do this against this race win or fail ok now go 1/2 way across the galaxy to go get this other guy who only has 1 planet left and not enough structures. I don't care if it send you across the galaxy but make it something like level the planet and adjust the times and also if you fail one mission but have completed the 5 before don't knock you diplomacy rating by 15% that's just stupid.

4. Make pirates playable but they only require credits for everything can't colonize planets they only raze then and steal credits (metal and crystal they steal to but sell on the black market) and make the planet uninhabital for like 5- 10 mins. they have 1 cap ship and are only aloud 1 at a time, but it have the special Board Ability and can capture enemy capitaly ships if thier hull is down to a certain level (Lvl 1. 1/4, Lvl 2 1/3 Lvl 3 1/2) and can have as many as they can caputure

5. Keep the Fleet Logistics research but also have it based on number of planets controled I.E. 1 planet = 1% extra for max size

6. Being able to build space stations in the space junk and asaroid fields all in one stop can trade vessels and minning vessels can dock there can repair vesels has guns and squadrens and can level up, more or less a non mobile cap ship

7. Spy telescopes the can look on distant stars to see what going on at other planets.

8. smarter warning system no the constant voice warning of we are under a take when it is just a scout ship.....or help has arived when a trade ship is crossing through your current gravity well

9. change how capital ships gain experiece and unlock powers....more realiticaly cap ship super powers should have to be researched (just have 1 unlocked for each ship when they 1st launch) Leveling up increases fire rate, more powered full weapons fire, shield strength, repair time, speed and manuvirabilty.....since more levels for your crew would mean that they should be able to do their jobs quick and get more efficanty out of thier ships.

10. experiance points and ranks for cruisers and frigates, like ranks in command & conquer.

11. on planet defense not just orbital they just have stronger damage but are slower to recharge

12. More stars less planets but more astroids and moons and such.


Thats about all i can think of great game though

i'd like to see different looking interface's for each race.
now its the same TEC-like interface for all races wich is kinda disappointing

and to be able to ask AI for resources.

Also a terraforming ability would be cool.

as most have said previously,
i'd like to see,
A) a story driven Campaign for each race, following the lore of the intro Vid, as i really enjoyed the small amount of lore that was given through said video.

B) A new race, but, as some have noted, i also believe this is already in the process due to the whole "vasari running away from big bad unknowns"

C) a larger fleet capacity / more capital ship slots, i don't see why, if i can control 3 systems and easily support the current 79%tax*or whatever the max is, it slips my mind at this point and stage*, why i can't have a larger fleet, sure this would lag out some people, but the option could be added as Extra large fleets or something along those lines.

D) the ability to import / create Your own logo for your chosen race / More colors, i would love a black or white color for my ships.(similar to that of homeworld2's logo / color scheme)

E) More ships / buildings / Defense systems for each race etc.

F) More or less a complete implement of the idea's listed in this mod; http://tgnforums.stardock.com/306295

i'd love to see all that implemented.
its a brilliant idea, and i find works really well.

this is one hell of a list but i thought i'd get all my bases covered in one go.

one other thing on my mind, "hero" classes, i think it will ruin certain aspects of the game... this is a 4Xrts... it brings up way to many balance issues when you introduce heros to a game - but thats just my opinion.

Making the races more different is a double edged sword. Not everybody can make a Starcraft, however, I'd like the differences to be a bit less... subtle, they're hardly noticable (apart from cap ships) until late game. I like the idea for fleet logistics by xing (#5). I also like a toned down EXP sys for non-cap ships, but it should be hard to level them up and give only a slight bonus. I think by being able to colonize gas giants, and debris fields the game looses some of it's tactical nature, were it to be implemented it'd have to be a minimal thing, lest the galalxy's natural choke points turn into viable planets.
With all that said, balance comes before expansions in my mind, I'd prefer a few more patches before we started dreaming of complicating things.

1) A campaign for every race

2) At least 1 new race

3) I like the idea of a new ship class - make it so the current strength of capital ships is the strength of the new class, or maybe slightly weaker. Then, take the current capital ships and make them visually larger and much more powerful (and more expensive)

4) Reworked diplomacy for AI battles - the current "mission" system=bad. The missions are pointless, and make it impossible to maintain good relations with multiple AI players. I like the Civilization-style method of negotiation options.

5) Updated particle effects - pretty much Wld or Bailknights merged into the vannila game

6)Increase the map scale overall. I want my cap ships to be utter specs compared to planets, and I would love planets to be farther apart as well. They feel too close for my realism sense.

7) Make fleet supply and cap ship crews scale relative to the number of planets under your control. I don't like that an enemy with only 1 planet left can still support a fleet as large as mine if he is given the time to construct it.

8) More planet defense options - not necessarily an uber-defense platform that can take down capital ships, just more support-role options that are only helpful if fleets are present. Structures that help with antimatter, targeting, and structures that target specific threats.

9) MAKE REPAIR ABILITIES STACK (to a certain point) Focus fire wins to much - I like battles that reward players for using specific ships in their intended role, not just a mess of cheap units spamming their laser weapons at the highest leveled cap ship. With some stacking capability, focus fire becomes less of a viable option.
