I really love Alpha Centauri when it comes 4X games but I can't stand any of the Civilization titles. It's sad how excited I was over Civ4. I've owned Sins for about three days and I played it more than Civ 4 =\

Sins>Civ 4, i tried alot 2 get into civ but just couldnt as much as sins

I wasted many hours on Civ4, but starting a new game is always daunting. There's just something about turn-based that screams "Major time commitment!" Sins is actually very deceptive. Its immediacy makes it so easy to get into, and before you know it, three hours have gone by.

Hehe..our master play to seperate all men from their women may actually be working!

It sure worked in my case, Sunday evening (yesterday).

My wife wanted to go to bed early, around 09:00 pm (EST). I joined my very first ICO game around 08:40, and we stopped at 00:20.

I'm "in the dog house" today, but I might be joining back the (saved) game some other evening, this week.

By the way, since I'm behind a router, I had apprehensions, but we could play (3 Humans) for over 3½ hours, without any glitch or lag. I guess it's all about finding the right people to play with.

I'm disappointed that my automatic shut-off idea has been ignored. Seriously, I can't even start playing because I'm scared I won't be able to stop until what is technically the next morning.

I haven't played a game this much since high school, and that was 7 years ago... I'm totally and completely addicted to this game and just can't stop playing... so much so that I actually strained my wrist on Saturday over an 8 hour Sins binge haha.

There seriously needs to be an in-game real time clock and an in-game game clock... I lose track of time waaay to easily without them.

second this topic. love the game. good job Stardock. too bad there is no campaign in a single player game... This is the only thing that prevents it from being perfect.

you know i dont miss campaing, yes ive run into a wall several times *cough+pirates*cough* but the fact im not synthetically limited to the basest of units and tactics, till about the end of the game like rts do, or i remember they did, is pretty cool, the fact that this game is so solid and well liked in spite of lacking a campaign actually says a lot more about it, than if it did.

in my personal case, if a game has a campaign, once i finish it i probably wont touch the game ever again, however with sins, since it all feels so sandbox like, i actually feel like i wanna experiment with all the factions, and the diferent ways there are to win.

Actually the game i was talking about in the original post involved me being the underdog for most of the game making by with only 3 planets, but then i started hitting the asteroid fields and my economy shot up, and then i started a scavenging tactic where i would wait for an ally to totally destroy a planet, and i would park a colony vessel in the rim of the system. As soon as the thing fell to the combined forces of me and my ally who i carefully backed up with my small psy armada, my colony vessel would swoop in and take the planet. i ended up being the largest planet owner, and it felt soo good to take all the map in such a sneaky way.

edited so the wall of text didnt crit you for 35'850945'0427'894395'283408 damage non crit

Yeah. Ever since I got Sins on Saturday, my girlfriend is pissed at me and I am getting sick from the sleep deprivation. I told four friends to buy it and I suspect they will be coming down with Sins-initus soon as well. :)

Actually, a clock in game might not be a bad idea. Or an alarm function even that you can set if you don't want to sit up until 5 a.m.

The game is killing me..hehe

That might be a little abrupt, to have your game suddenly quit, especially if you're in the middle of something. However, they could borrow a feature from CivIV: an on-screen clock with alarm. Knowing how addictive the Civilization games can be, I actually laughed when I read about that feature in the manual.

I was up so late on Saturday, my wife accused me of looking at porno. I told her "no, but I was sinning". :)

Need that in game clock, SINS is far too addictive. Like giving a heroine addict a heroine IV.
