A bit too easy?

I only got Sins two days ago, I've played it about 7-8 hours. 1v1, I can already beat the hard AI with barely any effort, and I don't even understand much about the game.

With everything I heard about this game being like GalCiv, I assumed the AI might be of similar quality, but clearly I was wrong. It's pretty pathetic that within 2 days, I've figured out most of the AI's 'strategy'.

Are there any AI mods or anything out?

Try playing bigger maps, the AI tends to not do very well in small maps, I think. Also, a thing you can do to voluntarily make the game harder is to not use capital ships, or at least less of them. You can defeat 2 Hard AIs allied together in a 19 planet game by building only capital ships and nothing else (except scouts)

Yeah, try Medium or larger maps, and if you still find the Hard AI too easy, play 2v1 (or even 3v1) against Hard AIs on a locked team on a Medium or Large map.

well the ai isnt designed for 1v1s (none are)

the best way to play the AI is on a larger map, or wait for some strats to come out that the devs can then incorporate into the ai

Yeah I just got owned by normal random AI. Me and 3 AI's free for all unlocked teams. I think the TEC AI and the Advent AI teamed up against me. I took 3 TEC worlds because they had crystals and I only had 1 crystal roid and a bunch of metal so I needed those crystal asteroids. Next thing I know the TEC are sending 5 capital ships and about 100 cobalts at one of my planets. I send my largest fleet from another nearby planet that I took from them and then suddenly the Advent came to that planet like as soon as my other fleet entered phase space. they had 3 capital ships and a butt load of those drone host ships.

After about 30 minutes I ended up loosing all of my ships and 3 of those planets I took. And I was back with just 1 crystal asteroid. I could not rebuild my fleet fast enough crystal on the black market was costing 1500 credits for 100. The other Vasari which got mad at me not doing there missions broke the peace treaty and then assaulted my most heavily fortified world which was pretty much the gateway to the rest of my empire.

So either you are a hardcore strategist or I am very very crappy at this game. Which it is very likely I am crappy.

Well, to be fair, if you play an unlocked ffa, it will generally end up in an alliance against you, because of the way diplomacy is handled.

Play Grindstone with hard AIs in an unlocked FFA setting - It's nearly impossible unless you luck out with 'quests' and if you're really wanting a challenge, ignore the quests.

It'll be 7v1 with non-stop action.
