Ideas for more planetary conquest options

Like others that have been expressing their dislike in total extermination of a planet, I too feel a bit uncomfortable with that. But hey, this is just a game, so how about try to come up with useful ways to add more flavor and depth into everyone's favorite game?

Here are my ideas on the matter:


1) Plain old Bombardment

- Faster method.

- Planet needs to be recolonized (faster pop growth for Vasari) and upgraded.

- Cultural impact: same as usual for a newly colonized planet.

- Diplomacy impact on AI: affected race would dislike you more.

- Automatic bounty on your head and for each time a planet is exterminated.


2) Invasion

- Would take longer than Bombardment.

- Requires X amount of resources (slightly less for TEC) and a special fleet ability.

- Planetary health starts at 30%, population at 30%; planet needs to be upgraded again.

- Cultural impact: slower culture increase rate (starting from 35%)

- Diplomacy impact on AI: affected race would dislike you less.


3) Subversion

- Would take longer than Invasion.

- Requires a greater amount of resources (slightly less for Advent) and a special fleet ability.

- Planetary health starts at 50%, population at 50%; planet needs to be upgraded again.

- Cultural impact: slightly faster culture increase rate (starting from 45%).

- Diplomacy impact on AI: affected race would dislike you less.

I'd prefer a more classic way: no more wiped out planets more like the new civ must deal with inhabitants of the former faction. It implies improvements to rise the allegiance and prevent unrest....

Just remembered to add this in Bombardment:
- Automatic bounty on your head and for each time a planet is exterminated.

So that a player would get penalized for that evil quicker option...

Ok. How about an extra planet upgrade slot for "Alien relations"? For those planets conquered by invasion or subversion.

It would be nice a Invasion could be looking like when you colonize a planet.

Every invasion ship doing x amount of takeover vs planet defense

+ it takes some time to recharge both combined with the damage done to a planet after a bombardement.

Would realy add flavor to the game

Umm... That link looks like it's a mod for Galactic Civilizations 2... Atleast those screen shots at that link do.
