It's annoying people leave games or drop making you clean up after them to get a win also :/ I often leave after that cause I don't want to spend an hour cleaning up to get a win, should I get a loss for that? NO!

Overall I would be more interested in ranked vs unranked games. As it stands your record means NOTHING. You cans till play vs easy AI online and rack up easy wins.

thats why the ai needs to take over if they leave.

Is there no disconnect counter?

Wins:
Losses:
Disconnects:

Seems like the solution to me.

It's a solution for disconnects, but not if someone clicks quit and leaves you with half an empire to finish off before you get a win... quit should make them surrender and give them a lose.

I disagree, if you are going to have a pick up from save ability, how can you have disconnects counting as losses, putting in that feature will kill being able to play the game in stages, because if you play a game over the course of 4 days, then you will have 3 disconnects and a loss/win, so it is an untrue view.

would take a major recode to fix that and to still be able to drop from a game and pick it up later I believe?

but I do agree, people who drop when they have obviously lost is bad form, and something should be done to correct it.

if anything make a option to have their empire disappear 2 hours of killing empty planets sucks.

Add a code that alerts the player B when player A wants to quit. Player B can then let player A quit without taking a loss. If player B does not allow player A to quit without loss then player A is alerted of this before leaving. He then receives a "Are you sure you wish to quit? You will receive a loss" message. This takes care of saving and playing later.

Game still needs a domination mode one way or the other...

Simple solution:

Include a "Save and Quit" option for the host. That way, when everybody agrees that it's time to call it a night, the host can click "Save and Quit", the game will be saved, and a "quit game" command will be sent to the client computers so they can exit cleanly without accruing a loss or disconnect.

That indeed seems like a reasonably simple and effective way forward. Dunno how hard it would be to change though?

still wouldnt prevent a host to leave without getting a lose.

Easiest solution is to create two different gaming modes like battle.net.

Allow "melee" and "use map setting" games. The first one counts for ur stats but only vs human players and the other one can be used for whatever u want but gives no wins/loses.
So if u want to play with friends "just for fun" u can create a UMS game.
Disconnecting gives ofc a lose else it will be abused, u can be sure about that.
Disconnectes should also be shown in the stats to see if someone likes to disc.

Works perfectly for Warcraft3, Starcraft etc., so why not use the same system.

No solution will be immune to abuse. Even on Battle.net, "win trading" was a popular way to artificially boost one's ranking. The best that can be hoped for is to mitigate instances of abuse without being overly restrictive to legitimate players.

but win trading is a lot easier to spot/punish then simply leaving a game/disconnecting on purpose.
