Keep in mind that Mass Effect is intended to be the first game in a trilogy. I really enjoyed it... although I wasn't happy with the ending that played to. I'll just have to do it again.

Oh god, best news ever. I was seriously considering getting a 360 to play it (I'm not a console gamer so I don't actually own any).

I was hoping it would be ported to the PC, and May '08 is close!

Giddy giddy!

I hope they get rid of the elevator parts...

Since I don't have a console I can only guess what you mean by that: Bad and cheap elevator music? ;)
You ride the elevator while the game loads. Better than a loading screen.

Yay. I was wanting to play this, but I have a ps3 and not a 360.

My only wish is that it is not Vista only. I have no intention of getting Vista anytime soon.

I really doubt games will start being DX10 only anytime soon, it's not nearly mainstream enough and won't be for at least another year or two (probably more).

I think the Unreal 3 Engine is DX10.

I wonder if it really does require vista because if you remember the PC version of Halo 2 requires vista no software related reasons at all.

well, hopefully, it will go the same way as Gears of war, and they will finish the game when we get it : )

Chris Priestly from Bioware said in one of the posts that it will not be Vista exclusive, so all of us XP users should be ok.

Unreal Engine 3 (which is what Mass Effect is based on) supports Dx10, but runs just fine with Dx9c, and indeed on the ME boards for Bioware Chris has been reassuring people it will come to XP and Vista.

Yay, thats good to know. Microsoft ruined Halo 2 by making it vista only. Have been wanting to play that, but dont have an xbox.

No Halo 2 runs flawlessly under directX9, you just need to hack it a little bit :P It checks if Dx10 is present before installing or running, just need to nuke the check and it works fine under XP. ;)

This looks great and should have some advantages over the X360 version... should be awesome. I haven't gotten the game yet so I'm going to be waiting until it comes out on PC to pick it up.

Thats why I got my 360 lol. Great game, a little short. I've also read the novel. I didn't do much exploring because I S U C K in the Mako.

Mass effect wasn't exactly short, unless you ran through the game at top speed. Side quests = lots of play time, which = about 20 hours total. The game is absolutly great, and should be bought by every human being on the planet.

I suppose the good thing about the prevalence of UE3 usage is that games like this become a lot easier to port.

How short is too short? I am interested in the game and was wondering how many hours you put into it before you completed the game. Other than COD4 I dislike short games and will avoid this one if the gameplay is less than ~10 hours.

Gameplay is 'not' less than 10 hours unless you speed through the game and don't enjoy it (like most gamers, some people these days don't want to enjoy the game they just want to finish it likety split)

On my second game; which I didn't do any of the site quests, it still took me around twenty-thirty hours to beat (with side quests - forty hours or so)

And thank god it's not a Vista only game :)
