Game slowdown/Tactics/Defence + other stuff

Hi,

My new Mod now have been approved. I have great enjoy of it. I thought maybe others could use it and have fun of it too, so therefore I have uploaded it.

I will improved this mod if I find something their has be fixed. I will of cause write a build history to follow width changes. This history will only in the future be found in this tread, because it’s mush easier than on the mod site. I will delete history on mod site on next update and only state where info for the mod can be found – of cause here :) And only also how to install it will be left.

NOTE: If you can't download the file then it's probably because I made a new version and uploaded it. Just look back later, could take sometime before my mod is approved and released for downloading.

History:

Redion-MOD v1.00 / Sins v1.02 Build 11.02.2008

- Pirates first attack now 2 hours, after first attack 1 hour
(Watch countdown can only show max 60 min. When first 60 min are counted then it starts over width next 60 min. Progress bar shows correct)

- Rebel 1 attacks, now between 90-120 minutes
- Rebel 2 attacks, now between 60-90 minutes

- Game setting "Slow" now 200 times slower than standard normal Sins v1.02 game speed
- Game setting "Normal" now 75 times faster than new "slow" speed
- Game setting "Fast" now 150 times faster than new "slow" speed

(New "fast" still 50 times slower than original standard Sins v1.02 game speed. NOTE: Slow is really extremely slow!)

New game speed includes:
- Income rate
- Build time
- Module build time
- Ship max speed and Acceleration/Deceleration speed
- Quest Complete Happiness
- Culture range speed

- Research time

(Research time is of cause bound to Research speed button - but Slow, Normal and Fast are each balanced to Slow, Normal and Fast in game speeds)

- Planet time development increased. Same for all game speeds (Slow, Normal and Fast)
Level 1. 120 seconds
Level 2. + 50%
Level 3. + 100%
Level 4. + 150%

- Gauss Defence/Beam Defence/Missile Defence, 100% damage increase and 50% range increase
- Phase Jump Inhibitor, 15% range increase and 350% effect increase



Redion-MOD v1.01 /Sins v1.02 Build 13.02.2008

- Base Hyperspace Speed, 100% Increase
(Now you actual can see ship icon moves in hyperspace on game speed slow ;) )

- Chance to hit Fighters, 15% increase
- Chance to hit Bombers, 10% increase

(I find them too powerful when things are slowed down. Was actually in v1.00 – but now slightly more - so you already have lived with it - my apologies that I forgot it in history for v1.00)

- Construction bar color changed to red for better visibility
(At last I’ve found where to change :) )

Redion-MOD v1.02 /Sins v1.02 Build 15.02.2008

- Quest time to complete increase (game speed slow, normal and fast). Now between 30-60 minutes. Depends of type of quest.
- Time between treaties offers increase (game speed slow, normal and fast). Now 60 minutes
- Time between quests increase (game speed slow, normal and fast). Now 45 minutes

(On fast and normal game speeds you shouldn’t have big trouble in reach the quest. More difficult on slow. Of cause if you have map width long hyper legs it could be pretty difficult - but that it was also before my mod. Now times suites Sins when slowed down.)

- Black Market price decay rate decreased considerably. Begin Decay time increase to 1 minute
(Now market functioning mush more like a real market. Have tested on normal game speed. AI still buying when in need so I saw real price fluxionary behavior, and sometime it could easy take about 10 minutes before prices stabilized).

Redion-MOD v1.03 /Sins v1.03 Build 13.03.2008

- All updated for Sins version 1.03
(NOTE: speed settings "fast" still 50 times slower than original standard Sins v1.03 game speed fast.)

- Base Hyperspace Speed, 100% Increase
(Now ALL races have 100% Base Hyperspace Speed increase, this also include pirates. In Redion-MOD v1.02 only Tech had this increase – My apologies :) )

- Sins v1.03 Black Market behaviors is also now standard in Redion-MOD v1.03
(Maybe I will make changes in a later time if I find it necessary.)

Managed to get bar color in before download site released v1.01 so v1.01 will still be last update.

I expect the MOD will be released on download site in a couple of days.

Plz give me some respond here if you want this MOD to be continued updated. 31 DL of the first and no responds - hope u all like it :) I stop if I get no response because it's kind of time-consuming to write here and all - u know it's take me away from gaming time ;)

First time I have seen it. It takes a few to see what its like, but better defense and slower game is good.

ya, something screwed up when I uploaded v1.01 but I expect the mod would be up and running in a couple of days. Upload site claim they need up to 5 days for approving. Last (v1.00) took only about 2 days so maybe tomorrow.

Note: Game play "Slow" is ReeeeALLY slow . . . only meant for them who like the extremes - something you might could call "close to some kind of a space simulator speed" ;)

I hope you will enjoy it if you try it out!

I approved it yesterday, the link works fine for me. Gameplay with the mod is painfully slow for my taste, but to each his own.

But still I'm a bit puzzled - why can I not see my mod in main upload page ?!? When you follow this sites normal way from download button from top of this site then I can’t see my mod in there.

Will you please look into this?

Hm - not good to do just small edits in text over there. Gone ones again!!

Is it really necessary upload ALL ones again (picture + file) every time when the edit just was about some text on the info page over there?

Of cause I follow the directions over there - it saying I have to fill in:

Skin Name, Category, Preview Image and the Mod file.

And I have not checked; Check to reset Update Date. Only check this if your skin has a major update.

I thorough enjoy the mod, keep updating as you see fit. I like to take my sweet time in this kind of game. Not in a rush.

Oh yes, I like slow games. Old school. And thanks to diabetes, my nerves in my hands will never be able to play a twitch game again; multiplayer would be a nightmare. But I am in the minority. Thanks for the mod. :)

Thanks for the support and kind words :) Happy to see others enjoy it also. I will keep on update when I find something - And I think I found something :) Have to look into the diplomacy part. Normally I play locked teams so I don't have the problem, but can see others who don't play locked maybe can have a pretty hard time to complete in time AI missions.

I will look into this issue and get back a.s.a.p.

I found a solution but I ran out of time ;) have to do other "business" now, so I guess I will upload new version sometime tomorrow.

But for short it will be like this:

- All Quests 300% time increase (on all game speeds) so now you will have from 30 minutes to 60 minutes to complete.

- Time between treaty offers 60 minutes. Old time was 5 minutes witch I think is way too often for my taste
- Time between quests 30 minutes. Old time was ONLY 3 minutes :)

P.S. For those that like this slower pace, if you are interested in a multiplayer game sometime, I would like to try it. I'm not very good though.

I played one online MP a few years ago and it sooooo wasn't for me. I couldn't click fast enough to even keep up. Pretty lonely way out here in space with only the robots to talk to though. ;)

Hm, still not up yet - then I shouldn’t have been sitting up to way over midnight (Denmark) to finishing up the new update after a big birthday party, so players could enjoy it for the weekend - waste of my time and effort, could just have made it now :)

Hi ss_sugar, I’m pleased you enjoy v1.01 – hope you like v1.02 better when it been released for download. I have tested it about 8 hours solo for these new modifications so its was balanced. But feel free to pop me a note here, if you or others find something I missed.

Heh, ya I’m defiantly not a good MP my self :) But have played EVE though for over 2 years before I stopped. Mostly I was a builder – wasn’t very good at this PvP stuff – heh!

Sounds good m8, maybe we will in due time. I must admit I for the first time in very long time thinking on trying MP here so it could be fine m8. But I want some more of Sins in SP before I shift – haven’t played as mush I wanted because of all this stuff here width the modding ;)

I remember you nick and catch up with you when I’m ready – could be fun with some more who also like it somewhat slower. 4-6 players on a medium to big map, recourses low, research slow on Redion-MOD speed normal to fast could be funny :)

Hi - ya I’m very sry for that - but it could take some time before they release it over on download site. Last update it was up and running pretty mush instantly but not this time. I'd worked hard to get it out before weekend  :SNIFF!:

With great help from kryo Redion-Mod v1.02 is up and can be downloaded - thanks kryo!

I have until now played over 10 hours in a fast SP game and I'm very pleased with the outcome until now. If you think I have missed something then feel free to drop me a note here. Happy gaming.

One question though, or a request really, not sure if you've checked this other mod out, but its called:

but that's a pretty cool mod, so I was wondering if maybe you and him can work something out to be able to include that mod into yours, since we can only activate one mod at a time.

Now if there's a way we can activate more then one mod, i'm all Ears, hehe :)

May wanna clean up the folder on the .zip file you uploaded (Or give a bit more instructions if that's easier). What i mean, is basically you have 2 Dirs, Window and Game Info, but you don't have a Main Dir for your mod, in otherwords, I'm assuming they both have to be in one folder in order for the mod to activate, or else you'll be activating only partial of the mod, just wanted to let you know :)

Hi, As I say over there you have to "Unzip the content of this archive" and with this I mean - all to a folder called: Redion-MOD v1.02 . . . or you can just, as you wrote, name you own folder and put "GameInfo" and "window" folder into this folder.

Normally, if you handle WinZip correct, you should not counter any trouble. The best way is to copy the Zip file to Sin’s MOD folder and choose: Extract to folder, from winzip – then it should unpack contents to folder named: Redion-MOD v1.02.

I just made my mod for own enjoyment, so I have the game as I want it, and for now I have it :) We all here to play a great game and if we can enhance the expiring we of cause want this. So I have no what so ever against if you copy something from my mod, or parts from files I have made modifications to another mod – just be clear the same goes for the other mod owner.

I think I can tell after looked at his mod, we will conflict in these files:

Our others files seems not making conflicts. Width a little work from you self you could make your own MOD :) Just remember do backup before you change anything. I will try to guide you what you have to do.

We hold on to Uzii's mod. We change my conflicting files and then copy these and the rest of my files over to his mod – here we go:

Find these files in Uzii's and my mod under folder "GameInfo":

From and with this Uzii's modifications are made. Some parts are not changed but to do it the easy way we just mark all to the end of the file, from and width: RequiredPlanetBonusesCount – you now marking this in Uzii's file (this taken from: PlanetAsteroid.entity):

Now with this marked use Ctrl+ c on you keyboard to copy it to memory. Now open Notepad containing my file and mark from and width:

Now use Ctrl+v to paste and overwrite with the part from memory. After this, save file.

You do the same for all the other conflicting files.

Okay, next thing to do. Open my "GameInfo" folder and copy the following files to Uzii's "GameInfo" folder. Just choose "All" when asked to overwrite files.

Okay, next thing to do. Open my "window" folder and copy this file:

Colors.color

to Uzii's "window" folder. Just choose "yes" when asked to overwrite files.

Voila – now you have my mod in Uzii's mod and you just made your own new mod. For my part, just feel free to upload this mod for the community if you want. Just make sure you also have Uzii's permission to do it. Okay, if you upload it, I would be a happy dude with a little note on the info page about my mod :)

Hi there,

as I am not good with programming and not so much time and the only way why I am still playing "Solar Empire" (SP, never MP) is because of your mod. Even I had to play it with settings everything at fastest :-) ... I needed 11hours for that huge map with 9 AI players, after destroying 8 AI and allied with 1 player ... BUT RESEARCH WAS really TOO SLOW !

Anyway now there is 1.03 up and I tried everything at slowest settings, it was still an action game ... like I pressed something to research, around 2 minutes later the message pop up, already researched and so on ... what the F... I even haven't used that what I have researched or recogniced what it was. Ships couldn't be killed how fast they are produced ???? and I put EVERYTHING at the slowest setting with the original 1.03 ... damn that isn't fun. I even haven't to think, what to build and what not, doesn't matter as I earn more money and resources I could spend.

PLEASE HELP I WANT A STRATEGY GAME, where it matters what I press and not HOW FAST I PRESSED THAT BUTTONS.

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR MOD for 1.03 and also I would like a speed which is around 5 times slower as the ORIGINAL SETTINGS from original 1.03 game everythin at SLOWEST

First try: Everything 5 times slower, how could this be done ?
And afterwards, what should be changed, that it is more a strategy game than a slow action game.

I’ve just uploaded an updated version (Redion-MOD v1.03). It has to be approved first, so in a couple of days it should be ready for downloading.

NOTE: We still do not have all "Reference Data" files in clear text. But it seems the important files I had to make changes to all was in clear text. For the rest I assuming no changes had to be made, so for these files I just overwrite the binary files with my old files. I have tested for some time now and it seems functioning correct – BUT please tell if you or others find some errors, then I have to wait for all "Reference Data" files in clear text before I can make new updates.

You think research speed on setting: Slow is too slow. I have to keep slow research speed as it is now because slow research speed is balanced to the other slow settings.

I would gladly have given you more speed choices to choose from if IC had made (what I was actually expecting Sins v1.03 contained) more speed options to choose from and not only Slow, Normal and Fast. I had hoped for 1-2 more options like i.e.: Very Slow, Slow, Normal, Fast and Very Fast. Maybe this would go in to patch v1.04 . . . we can only hope :)
