Sins vs Eve

Graphics wise

Well I just looked at the EVE Online website (haven't been there for months) and I tell you something, the new Eve Trinity looks gorgeous! Just look at the screenshots and wallpapers.. wow. Too bad Sins will probably never look like this but to be honest with all details enabled it's a beauty as well. So I guess what I'd like to say is, Ironclad, you don't have to hide, but for inspiration you know where to look ;)

I used to play Eve before Trinity and it was gorgeous looking then! The fact is the whole thing would grind to a hault when there were too many ships around. Also you rarely got close enough to other ships to appreciate them. Still, I too would love more detailed ship models in Sins.

I agree, more detailed ships would be a nice bonus. but im not greedy, SINS has delivered a game that people have been dreaming to have for years.. and i thank it for that.. its about time this genre of games gets redefined and re-awoken. too many action games in the market - get people to build their logic skills again =)

I use to play Eve until I got so sick of bots and "gold sellers" taking all the good mining spots that it makes it impossible to play.

This is one reason why I love Sins. Play when I want, no monthly fee and never have to worry about bots.

Anyways, why are you talking about an MMO here? Completely different genre.

Funny thing since i was thinking the same :)

Can you imagine Sins with Eve type of gfx :SURPRISED:

But i also agree with other posters - Sins is indeed game i was waiting for for years while gfx although not exactly top notch are rather charming too...

Saying that - Sins2 / Expansion Pack / Sequel of some sort - should include better Gfx than we have them now... Eye candy was always secondary thing for me but if you can push it further by all means please do :)

EXCELLENT VIDEO!
I played the trial. I can describe the whole experience in one word.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

If you are having problems sleeping, then this is THE game for you. You will have no problems falling asleep while you zoom (and I use that term very loosly) from one planet to the next.

I haven't had this much fun since preparing my for my last Colonoscopy.

Hmm, EVE online...

Wasn't that the one where the game staff were busted for cheating in their own game?

Somehow I don't think Stardock or Ironclad staff will be caught in a similar position.

Hey, you're partially responsible now. The topic is titled, "Sins vs. Eve". Sins, maybe by its fifth sequel, might match Eve in looks one day; that is, unless you guys want graphically satisfying chug fest. :)

And the subtitle is "Graphics wise". I compared the graphics, nothing more :)

Has anyone seen the graphic update in the next expansion to Galactic Civilizations II?

A future expansion might well see Sins surpass EVE graphically given that its not an mmog, and thus not restricted to being a badly performing resource hog like all games in that genre.

And as a former EVE player I would like to add that I would sooner saw off my own leg with a dull butter knife than return to that horrible grind fest which entails logging in, clicking on a skill and logging out for the first six months to a year to be competitive in the most horribly boring PVP experience well.. ever in mmog history.

PVP entails clicking on a target, orbiting said target at a decent range and clicking your weapons, then waiting for the game to decide if you lose or not.

And please.. if any of you decide to inform me that they are from different genres, stab yourself in the eye with a hot soldering iron.

So true. If anything, we really should be taking this as a compliment... :)

Aye, MMORPG graphics comapred to RTS, it's common knowledge that MMO's will look better than an RTS. Normally games will flood their mmo's with pretty graphics to try and put up a smoke screen to hide the fact it's got terrible gameplay, age of conan anyone?

Your right hellarad, your whole life isnt taken up just to get a cool ship.

Instead in Sins your whole life is taken up playing 200 planet maps with your crazed friend named Cail and having your wife look at you evilly because you stopped playing Halo 3 and may not remember how to use your voice... Or you know, what the sun looks like.

Or maybe thats just me and Cail.

Still play EVE (quite a bit less now i also play Sins i might add :P)
They both have their good points and attractions. But they're are each very much their own game. :) But i agree with the OP, Sins looks amazing (and runs amazing too i might add) And so does EVE.

well i'm actually guessing IC already took some inspiration from the EVE side of things. Both games run amazingly well on my "low-to-mid-range" gaming computer, so on the optimisation side they really did very well. I'm only on an AMD X2 3800+ here with a x1950 Pro under the hood and performance is stellar.

This thread is going to hell... LOL

Topic really is aimed on GFX in Sins and GFX in EVE...

GFX in Sins are great but i would LOVE to see them reaching EvE levels one day...

yeah in like 10 years or something.. i played eve for about 2 years. its boring at the start kind of but it gets very interesting as you get more skill points and money. i quit about 5 months ago. ill come back to it in a few months time i guess. that is if AOC turns out to be crap.

I'd rather have the current Sins graphics and be able to play the game on a rather-less-than ninja PC than have uber graphics but not be able to play the game without buying a new machine. ;)

I think limiting the graphics to something reasonable was a smart move by Stardock/Ironclad - it widens the potential playerbase significantly.
