yeah, gamespot took a lot of hits in the last weeks, so its by far not my first check for reviews anymore. that said, I think the review was informative, accurate and well written, so in spite of the source, I still give it some weight. but they should REALLY start to repair their tattered image. so far I have heard of little that would suggest a true commitment to independent, neutral reviews to calm the unrests.
I agree with the campaign thing though. I absolutely love games with a good campaign. or rather, games with missions that are fun enough to transpot a great story. a campaign has effectively two objectives: one, get the story across and set people up to get immersion while gaming. I dare say I would have enjoyed starcraft a lot less without campaign. two, introduce players to elements of the game, things more complex than tutorial stuff (although the first missions of campaigns are effectively tutorials).
