Stargate Invasion is a total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment and Diplomacy . As of this time, there is no FINAL release date yet for this mod.

  

 

The mod will be built in 2 halves.  The first is the Pegasus side, I.E. Humans, Wraith and Asurans, with the Pirates being a classified race at the moment.  The second part of the mod, will add in the Asgard and Goa'uld races to the mix, we will even be creating a separate version of the mod as well, which will just be Humans, Asgard and Goa'uld, with the Lucien Alliance as the Pirates for that half.

A quick request,  Can we get a look at the latest Asgard Beam effects?  I wanna see them in action!

I tested the minimod and it was hilariously awesome. I played the tauri against a team of 3 humans, 3 vasari, and 3 advent, all on unfair. By the end i had a fleet of about 100 daedalus ships, etc. Ended up killing about 45 cap ships 4700 enemy frigs in my path to victory.

Back to the mod tho, i think it's comming along exceptionally well. 1 thing i do have a question about is why do the tauri have wtf uber hull tanking? In the shows they ONLY shield tank. If they take more than a few hits to hull, they are screwed. I propose switching the hull tanking and shield tanking tech bonuses (although i do like the tech tree with asgaurd research in order to get better shield techs).

Secondly, blackholes are a pain to jump out of.....fleets epicly fail trying to align out in order to warp away.

Thirdly, the tauri dont have a wormhole tech, which is kinda a major issue.....

Oh, I know this is something you probably haven't gotten to yet, but it's not really intuitive what techs or techs what (no, i dont have the tauri strings patch).

Keep up the good work guys. Hope to see more of this mod in action soon.

They do have wormhole research, its the same as the one that lets them build stargates.  I noticed there wasn't a research specifically for wormhole travel, but noticed my ships could still use wormholes later in the game.  Figured out that it was the "Harvest Stargate" research or whatever its actually called.

As it stands now in the mini-mod, the ship hull/shield/dps values are more like placeholders. The current system I've submitted has the shields on un-upgraded Tauri ships starting at about 25% greater than the hull(more or less, depending on the class). I haven't started Wraith/Asuran specs yet, but as it stands, most Tauri ships can only take a couple volleys of Hive shots to their hull before going boom. Since you're correct that the shields generally tank a lot more than the hull, it's my plan that shield tech will give larger bonuses than hull tech as you move up the tech tree. 

Since balance is a somewhat subjective thing, I know there will probably be some disagreement on stuff. My goal is to follow the series balance as best as possible while keeping things fun. And of course the other mod devs with have the final say in the end.

Right onfyi all i have been busy as of late finalizing some code changes and also added new custom huds for almost all of our ships. We have also  come across some more music that will finish off what is left in that dept. Things are going well and we are making strides , .

Although I've not tested my theory, I think the Tau'ri have weak shields and alot of regeneration, and as they get more "advanced" shields from the Asgard, the regeneration value goes up. As goes for every other faction in SG. When they say "sheilds are holding", I think they mean the attacking ship doesn't have strong enough weapons to counter the shield's regeneration rate.

Maybe you should try a testing mod that nerfs the shield strength and ups the regeneration?

Technically, I think you may be right there.  The concept of an energy shield failing is when its being strained more than its power source can supply juice to keep it intact.   If a power supply can continually supply enough energy to maintain the shield, then it won't fail.

Sounds like a good idea to me.  But then again, Sins has its values and shield points are obviously the main limiter for this aspect of ships in the game.

 

EDIT:  Perfect example for your point; I modified Dolynick's Atlantis shield mitigation to make it a little more resilient under pressure and after fully researching and leveling up to 10, the mitigation sat at 92% under fire.  At one point it came under atack from almost 1500 pirate ships and even with all of them firing on the ship the shields never dropped more than 100 points because they regenerated quicker than the pirates could damage them.

When I came under fire from a heavy Asgard fleet however, the shields were dropping fairly quickly because their weapons are far more powerful.  The same went for the Goauld, although to a lesser extent.

Wow that is just beautiful work. Just LOVE the way Atlantis looks and the way the beams are gonna be... gotta love them Asgard beams especially when they beat up hives.

I do have a question though... Is it possible to make it look like a ship actually recieves Hull damgage when it loses sheilds completely...

For example Atlantis, when it got hit you could see pieces of this and that flying around in space from Season 4 Episode 1 and 2 I believe. When they were passing by an asteroid belt...

My point is make it look like some parts of the ship get damaged and after a while you are done fighting you can watch the ship being rebuilt again or something like that.

If that would be too much hassle its allright... but it would be nice to see something like that.\

Anyways I hope you guys release soon, the wait is killing me....

Flying debris is possible just by modifying hit effects.  Having lost model parts that can be rebuilt as the ship is repaired, I'm pretty sure is impossible.

Oh well I guess just the flying parts will do.

How about when they say they are venting atmosphere, and they have hull breach and some areas are locked down and stuff like that is it possible to show somehow parts of the ships going dark and venting atmosphere or something similar to that?

When i start game its goining 20-30 min. fine , but after that is crashing more and more intensive :( i loading and loading game again but with same issue...crash.
