Which Catalyst Driver to use?

Saw some posts that people such as I are having problems with startup on the game. I'm still getting the black screen and am unable to play. I have a Radeon 9800 and thought I saw a post saying that they rolled back the driver to an earlier state and it helped. Does anyone have a clue on which driver they were using to make the game work? I've tried a few and can't find one that helps.

i'm running Catalyst 7.10 with my x1950, and have no issues what so ever. However i don't know if that version will also do the same for your 9800. Just make sure before installing the other driver to completely remove the old one. Uninstalling won't be enough in many cases. Driver Cleaner Pro will remove more or less any trace of your current drivers, which should allow you to install new ones cleanly.

Hopefully you're not using Vista... I had ENDLESS problems using my ATI card with Vista (the dreaded atikdmg error) and finally had to ditch the card and go to an nVidia card... this was after endless tweaking and Catalyst versions

good luck!

Get 8.1 it really improves performance with the older cards at least it did with supreme commander. Not sure about other games or you could try 8.2 although it just came out so there could be bugs in it.

Do not use the most recent one. It causes a conflict with DirectX that will keep you from being able to play the game. Use a version 6 or 7 and the game will run fine.

Currently, using 8.1 for my ATI x800. Runs perfectly fine. I do experience momentary crashes, but that only happens when the game goes into a long period of gaming with each player having their fleet capacity maxed out. X_X Lol. I ran Sins after I installed the 8.1 setup. I am not sure about version 7.X I should have tested before installing the 8.1 drivers. Oh wells.
