SoaSE Crash at Start

Hey, this is another one of those Mini Dump errors. I've already sent an e-mail to Ironclad with the file enclosed and a copy of a DxDiag, but that was three hours ago and I was wondering if anyone might know a quick fix that I could use without having to wait for a response. First of all, I've tried reinstalling and rebooting and all of that. It doesn't work. Secondly, I've played the game all week with no problems at all.

Basically, I try to start the game, and I get the normal black screen that covers about 3/4 of your desktop. However, 5 minutes later I'm sitting there looking at the same screen as the game refuses to load. I then close it and receive a message that a Mini Dump file has been saved to my computer, followed by the traditional "This program has experienced an error and needs to close" Microsoft message with the Send Error Report and Don't Send Error Report options. Here are the two images I was referring to:

If anyone can help, please do. Thanks for reading.

Did you make any changes to your system between when it was working and when it stopped working?

That said, given that its the weekend, I wouldn't hope for a quick response on the minidump... though you might be surprised, given how customer oriented IC / SD happen to be.

I don't think so. I sat down, checked a few forums, downloaded the map editor for SoaSE, decided to learn it later, and opened up the game.

Update: I've tried reinstalling and downloading the patch again and still no luck.

If you do not produce the technical details of your computer's specs (including which version of your videocard's drivers you are using), I doubt anybody, here, can help you with so little info. Sorry.  (:(

If you e-mailed your DX-Diagnostic info to Ironclad, that's what I am refering to.

To be sure, you could also try e-mailing the minidump and DX-Diag files to :

[email protected]

Thanks, but that still is not enough info.

If he e-mailed his DX-Diagnostic text to Ironclad, that's much better.

Have him e-mail Stardock Support, also.

And then, be patient : Ironclad and Stardock absolutely want you guys to play -- they will eventually reply.

Here, on the forum, there are very few tech experts, and without the full DX Diagnostic and the minidump file, we could only speculate in general abstractions.

Funny, the same thing started happening to me a few days ago.
Has any solution been presented yet, or is this issue unresolved?

For those of you getting errors on multiple games, what video cards are you using? Did you just update your drivers?

If you haven't updated the game to the latest stable version (1.05), please do so. If you still crash at start after that, go to the location on your computer that the minidump message indicates, and send that file to [email protected]. They can analyze it and figure out what's going wrong.
