Man could I have used that in my last 'bright' game where the Drengins wiped the floor with us goodies :(

I had this UP "resolution" imposing on me twice in my most recent "Crippling" game (See my metaverse score). They were not 2% but 3% and 4% of my money for other empires. And none of others got such treatment in the game. My Morality was neutral. Drengin and Yor are demonic and evil. Why just me? If they were all "genius", then who is the "fool"? :( Anyone knows why one is the target of such resolution?

Just random bad luck. You just have to hope that you have enough influence to make sure it doesn't pass or that another race likes you enough to vote no on it.

I just started a large map last night and decided i would be evil. I put all the other empires on Random alignment. After I met the Drengin (evil) and the Yor (pure good), this event came up (I was neutral, tending towards evil at the time) and I got slammed for 3% :(

Unless you have 50% or more of the influence of entire UP, you will be fined. From my experience, they always vote "Yes". (:(

Bet you don't like it when you have to pay. I once had to pay 5% to each race. :sniff!:

I had to pay up once. I voted NO, but of course I lost that one. Wonder if they pick on the #1 civilization or is it completely random?

Hahahaha, that's great.
It brings up something I thought about earlier though: If the AI starts getting UP resoultions against it like this and other possible things it would have no use for, will it leave the UP?

I've seen this resolution twice in my five games. The first time, it was against me, but it was late in the game and I had 53% of the influence and simply vetoed it.

The second time it was also against me, but it was very early in the game. I had only met the Altarians, and they had more influence than me. Bam, I'm paying 2% of my income to races I haven't even met!

This event happened to me when I was the wealthiest race in the UP, only I had to pay 5%. I didn’t have enough influence to vote it down, so it passed. When I was looking through the stat screens to see if it would be more beneficial to pull out of the UP, I noticed that it was the Drengin that got stuck paying the 5%, even though I was the race selected!

This was with the 1.02 update.

Brad, would it be reasonable to incorporate this suggestion?

We have all seen the UP Limiting Evil Trade routes, Making Evil Civs donate money etc etc. Would it be feasable to have this happen for good Civs, if for example the Evil influence total is greater than Good. IE Myself the drengin and Yor are all Evil, so there is a greater % chance of the UP hurting the Good races rather than Evil.

I played a game as evil, and got the limit trade routes UP, when you are gettting 600+ a month from 8 trade routes, and are suddenly reduced to 2 *really* hurts. I dont see why the goody goody civ's shouldn't suffer when Evil is dominant :D

evil wins because good is dumb but then evil loses because they can't play nice with each other

I had something funny happen with this one a couple days ago. I had this same vote come up against me. It was me, the Torians, and the Yor... with the Yor bigger then the 2 of us combined. Well, of course I voted no, but that didn't help and I got stuck with 5%.

For some reason I decided to check the UP screen, and it said that the Yor had to pay! :) Checked out my econ screen and sure enough, no extra expenses. Kinda nice having a random bug working in your favor :)

It pays to be good :) just had this one, and I had only 39% of total votes, so I already thought about how to pay it - but then the Yor (random alignment) and the Altarian voted in favour of me. *smile*

@Nirvana
Since the U.P. was invented by the Earthlings, I suppose the prime directive was to ensure peace and love in the galaxy (something only humans could come up with. Maybe... :D). So even if Evil rules the Universe, it won't ever rule the U.P. (just my thoughts, don't know if this was meant that way).

Even though it could be nice to have - in the spirit of smuggling - some trade options for Pure Evil Civ's if they decide to leave the council. This "enhanced smuggling" could only be done with other Evil Civ's (or something along that line).
