1.02.040: Instant updates on trade

Quite a few people asked for this and it does make it a lot nicer.

When you do a trade that involves money, the color coded (yellow/green) will update on the fly as you use the slider adjusting money in the transaction.

Before, you had to enter in a "Bid", and see if the AI would accept it and repeat. Kind of annoying.

Requires SDCentral. Make sure you read the docs before you post things like "It's asking me to download 84 megs" or "I can't see the update". The docs are on the download page here on galciv.com.

Have fun!

Wow, just tried this on my game..you dont know how much quicker, and less of a pain trading is now. I was getting to the point where i didnt trade as i found it boring and a hassle. Seems excellent now.

Ive updated to this version but getting a few things wrong.
Where the leave button should be, it says "no string found". The "leave" text, is strait up near top between, the aliens, and the money trade slider. My slider worked for a few trades, then seemed to quit all together, and typing in the amount I wont doesnt work any more either.

Is it possible the files got corrupted when I downloaded the patch? If so, i reinstall from archieve and try to reinstall the updates.

"Where the leave button should be, it says "no string found".

I am getting the same thing.

PS I am really discouraged. That blasted AI keeps creaming me....just what I have wished for for years, as long as it does not cheat! And it appears that it does not, at least not down on my level :-)

I'm getting some buggy behavior on the negotiation screen now.

- The leave button now say "String Not Found". It still works though.

- The scroll bars in the money prompt are looking weird. Basically, the two arrows are at 25% and 75% rather than 0 and 100. I don't know if it did this before, but clicking and holding on the arrow does not make the money continually change, though single clicking does make it go up one.

- If I manually enter a number after having used the arrow keys, it doesn't actually change the value. For e.g., let's say I scroll up to 25bc and then decide I need to go much higher. I then enter the number 1025. Not only doesn't it update the green text to yellow, but if I click OK, the amount proposed is still 25. And even if I use the arrows after entering the number, it does not change the actual values.

btw, the stardock update worked just fine for me.

Same thing as MadMaz describes. I even went so far as to uninstall GalCiv, reinstall from CD then update / redownload the BonusPack then update to 1.02 using SDC. Same thing again, slider doesn't work, 'string not found', 'leave' up near trade window, click and hold not working...

Yea im getting "string not found" too..i reinstalled and updated thinking my game had become corrupted but obviously not..

Yep, "String not found" here also. I don't see that updating on the fly feature. When I entered a price I wanted for a tech, I started low, which made it green. I started to raise the price to see if the color would change, and nothing, until I clicked on done, at which point it turned yellow. I am understanding the concept correctly, it's supposed to change "while" you're setting the price? Right? :notsure:

Also if it is yellow, the words stay that way until I lower the terms and click enter. Then it kinda resets. This is with the stops at 25% and 75%. :(

yeah, mine's not really working either. no on-the-fly update, string not found (with leave up at the top), etc.

I get the same bug as MadMaz above. The sliders changed color, too.

With the previous 1.02 patch, I had something weird happen to me: nobody would do any diplo trading with me. I'd offer them my tech for 1 credit, and they didn't even want them. Incidentally, I got my first ever Terror Stars right at that moment; is the "no trades" a side effect of the TS, or a bug?

<--- wants to assume the windowed version is now updated with the regular version but doesn't know

Can you change the editbox for cash trades to overwrite by default? It's annoying having to deal with.

Yea, I'm having the same "string not found" bug, so I've essentially had to put my current game on hold. Crippling difficulty... lotta trading goin on.

Is there any way to roll back to the last patch till this gets fixed? Preferrably without reinstalling :)

"Where the leave button should be, it says "no string found".

Yep, same thing here. Though the button still *does* work as others have mentioned and lets me leave the diplomacy screen. I didn't actually test the sliders and update-on-the-fly as I just wanted to check the update really quick.

To be clear, even though the button is not labelled correctly, it still seems to work, so I'm not sure why you'd need to put your game on hold. Also, the live updating does seem to marginally work if you don't manually enter any numbers and just click on the arrows. If you do enter a number, you have to close the dialog then reenter it. Not that any of this really matters, these guys will probably have an update up within the next 12 hours :)

Why is the update estimated as 4,07 MB and when I archive it it's 455 MB on my HDD? No, id did not shift komma or such. The archive IS 455 MB.

I wonder if the latest patch is compatible with saved games?

After I installed the new update, the Drengin, who were at war with all the other races except me, immediately made peace treaties with everyone.

I noticed that my trade sliders turned white. The slider itself no longer functioned, it’s stuck in the middle, and if you clicked to the right of the arrow, the amount offered would go lower instead of higher like it should. I also see the “string not found” message, however, the button is still functional to leave the trade screen

ALL the races now have patented rights to Diplomatic Translators.

The Altarians have –2133 BC in their treasury, but they are listed as 1st in the galaxy for treasury in their stats.

Has anyone started a new game to see if these same problems are present?

DblDamage,

I've also got the blocky white non-functional trade slider, and that is with a new game, started right after downloading this version of the patch.

:D You know I think we are getting spoiled here. It is like we complain about a bug and within 24h stardock has to put up a new update... (yes, usally they are faster than 24h

;)

Ok, looks like some file didn't get uploaded to the server.

Daylight savings time kind of messed up our sychronization thing. I'll do it by hand in a little bit.
