Galactic Guardians - How many "real" players do they have

I recognized that there are several "double accounts" to "work around" the metaverse calculation rules.

Does anybody have a overview how many players are active and how many use "double accounts"?

No doubt they won the race anyway. But why do they cheat this way? Or is cheating the wrong word? I'm not a native speaker and don't want to offense anybody.

I am aware of the following "double accounts" with metaverse score (account with 0 Mpts aren't a problem):
- Passing Bye (ranked 5) - Guardians / Weyrleader (ranked 6) - Guardians. Maybe the most problematic one
- Littlewotts (ranked 25) - Guardians /Littlewotts_ (ranked 156) - Guardians
- Icho Tolot (ranked 20) - Jedi / Lord Admiral Altan (ranked 58) - Jedi
- Mayito8888 (ranked 75) - Starfleet / Karyhorse (ranked 140) - Starfleet
- Moser the Alchemist (ranked 10) - Aldarians / FleetOfDarkness (ranked 73) - All good Things
- Fuels Chief (ranked 9) - Guardians / Magician of Black Chaos (ranked 127) - All good things

And the second is more than 10 000 000 Mpts behind the guardians.

So it isn't really a problem. But it is better since a recalc has occured : Guardians have lost 5 000 000 Mpts in the recalc.

And forgot to add that the THE SENTINELS OF SKOWBO have only double accounts people, but without any submission associated

And I am bit responsible on Passing Bye / Weyrleader status since Passing Bye has appeared in the metaverse to twart an attempt of neutralization by the IBH. And I have successfully neutralized Weyrleader

I have a double account. FC and MBC. I did not do it to get around recalcs. I did it to keep up the commitment I made in the CORE, to join the fairwell empire.

Moser/FoD. He did it to tryout playing evil or testing mods. Don't remember which.

As stated by Peace Wyer was terminated. He then submitted a game to get his own score recaled down.

LW did it to get to 1 million points with the fewest games. I think R/L stopped that progression.

I don't know of any others that Peace did not mention except Theodan and Blue_Moon are the same. Both guardians.

Icho and Mayito I have no clue about. Happened before my time in the meta

No offense taken. By me anyway. It has been done for different reasons by each individual. I don't consider it cheating but there are certinaly those that would disagree with me.

Actually, I formed PassingBye as Peace indicated and then decided to keep it so I could have a black shield and see how fast I could climb back to where I was. I purposefully submitted a game to Weyrleader from time to time so that he would not stagnate without a recalc. Now that recalc is standard, I am playing both. I have asked CariElf to do a reverse split for me and I think she will after the first Beta comes out on GCII and she has some time. With a recalc and now no holes in the combined person, I should become second again in the Meta with over 600 games submitted.

If its legal then Stardock should remove that from their player registration screen... as far as i know itsa still there...

I only call it cheating IF "The Same player" has more than 1 active player ... its ok if other members of the family play... but even then... I did ask Stardock at the time of my registration if My brother could play on my account... they said "Well.... not really your only supposed to have 1 active player submitting games in the metaverse... hoever at this time there are some players with multiple persona's for use in the forums for use as extra persona's as characters in stories" Or words to that effect...

It had become painfully obvous that some players founbd a loophone where inactive players weren't being aged... this has now been fixed... There are other players who are activle playing multiple persona's to keep their moral / skill level games seperated... and by doing this ALL their games arn't being taken into the calculation of their scores.. and thus increasing their input into their empires...

eg: if a player has one persona and submits 4 games a month to the metaverse of 60,000 then each game submitted is only worth 30,000 to their scores and their empires..
while if they have 4 players then each score is worth 60,000 to their empire.. thus bypassing a metaverse mechanism to equealise thing to make things a more long lasting interest and not burning players out by playing too many games a month... its a mechanish that only works fairly IF there are no Active players with multiple accounts... This is the reason that I call it cheating... and which is the reason why Stardock had this stipulation in the signup page... and if you read it properly they state somewhere that anyone caught abusing the system May and Can have their scores removed...

So Stardock should either enforce this regulation or strike it from the registration page... Until then and ALL players get a notification in the forums then as far as i'm concerned it is and shall remain cheating as its a way to cutcumvent thte metaverase scoring mechanism... and is unfair to those players who are doing the right thing

This is an excellent point; I'd appreciate Peace Phoenix's opinion on this - if you have multiple active aliases and all the actives are in the SAME empire, then surely this is a distinct advantage? If Weyrleader and PassingBye were recombined into one player with 600 games, then his Metaverse point count in his empire would surely be lower than the simple sum of Weyrleader + PassingBye as seperate players? Is that right?

Yes. with only one player registred, the score would be near 2975 K. And Weyrleader + Passing Bye = 3 378K.
It would have been worse if Weyrleader and Passing bye have been fully active account in the same time. As you can see on the record for both, until few days ago, Passing Bye was the active submitting account and Weyrleader was inactive.

Yes, it is an advantage for your empire. If a player has M distinct active accounts and split his games equally in each account, there will be a factor between the sum of his accounts' scores and the score he would have experienced if using only one player equals to squareroot(M).

LOL Oh yah like our empire needs the points that badly. Weyr was trapped in 2nd with tech millions of points ahead of him. He played the other player to have fun again. He even deliberatly gave weyr the odd game to force a recalc to give me 2nd place sooner.

We all complained about no recalc on retired players even our own. Actually our own in particular because we noticed them. What about FC who's in two different empires? What's his sneaky motivation.

Carielf gave exact instructions on how to have a 2nd player, so if that is not implied consent, I don't know what is. I know of no one who is doing what JT suggests with that purpose in mind. Although I understand his concern about the possibility of it being done. People splitting there evil and good persona's just don't play enough to amount to much.

I don't know about anyone else here, but I have a hard enough time playing enough games for one player without decay, forget about a 2nd player. :sniff!:

where, when... I must have missed it.... why do they still state it vin the regulations then ???? :SURPRISED: :SURPRISED: :SURPRISED:

just because no one is doing it (openly anyway) doesn't mean that they won't

Yes I agree it is hard to keep our player scores from degrading.. but if a player did decide to do this it WOULD decidadly give THEIR EMPIRE an advantage... and imagine if 2 or more players in an empire decided to do this... they would have the equivilany of 8 or more genuine active players all posting scores (even if they only submitted 4 games of 60,000 under each persona / month)
1player 4 personas (total of 16 games / month) 120,000 * 4 = 480,000
if 2 players did it it would give their empire 960,000 in one month
if 3 players did it it would give their empire 1,440,000 in one month
if 4 players did it it would give their empire 1,920,000 in one month

in the second month their scores would loose 96,000 points
making their empires score in 2 months 3,744,000

even if they were the only players in that empire and started players from scratch within 2 months their empire would br in 6th place and each persona would have only played 8 gamnes... each player played only 36 games .. the vtotal games for that empire a stageringly low 144 games to be placed in the metaverse about 6th place...

Just how long do you think it would take them to get into first place

and never mind that what if high scoring existing players started to do this .. with their starting scores already high...

(PS: If my math is correct then it could decimate the metaverse as we know it... EVEN if my math is incorrect it would still totaly changes thingsa as we know them)

Ok... now i've been and gone and done it... told ppl just how to create a real super empire... unfortunatly... its the only way that i could try to convince ppl that multiple player persona's CAN and WILL EVENTUALLY reck the multivurse... which is why I believe that that rule of only single ACTIVE PERSONA'S SHOULD me kept in PLACE and "INFORCED....

Which is why Stardock placed it in the regulations in the first place....

If I can think of it then others have too... and who's to say that it isn't being done as we speak...

Its just all too common a place to see multiple persona's in the metaverse and its just a time bomb waiting to explode in our faces... and once again totaly change the face of the metaverse...in a more explosive way than the old Cranking spoilers did in the past...

Its totaly disrespecting old players who've obided by the regulations all this time...

My vote is as the regulations state... 1 serial number... 1 ACTIVE player.. 1 ACTIVE game persona ... 1 lot of ACTIVE scores being submitted by each player... thats it...

This is how EASY it is to Climb the empire ladder in the metaverse the way things stand at the moment... making a total mockery out of everything that has happened in the metaverse todate..

I've actually been waiting to see just when StarDock would put an end to the multiPersona'sand force ppl to recombine their persona's back into one.. and now that the aging has been fixed there is no longer any need for multiple persona's...
Its fair to everone..

This would make a level playing field. I have a hard enough time to manage my one account. How in the world anyone could or want more then one is beyond me. LOL

Your math is correct: 4 60K games per month give 120 K.
For information: 16 60K games per month give 240 K
So the points would have been halved if the people weren't using 4 accounts each.

But don't forget that the only way to climb fastly the metaverse ladder is to submit 60K games. The more 60K submitter you have as empire, the faster you will reach the top (at a time, the Guardians have lots of players submitting 60K games)

the rise of the Guardians has just showed that the way to climb the metaverse ladder is to have lots of people submitting 60K games.

Our empire scores the total of all your player scores or is it factored like player scores. :notsure:

Well I thought every one knew. I am a "cheater" at least according to some. Seems like some think it is a Guardians intent to cause hate and discontent in the Meta. Stir the pot if you will. To repeat a phrase I heard on a rap radio station... Don't hate the player, Hate the game. Certianlly they were not talking about galciv, but it applies.

Keep on squeeking, maybe stardock will throw some more grease your way.

Chill out, dude. My original reason for asking about this issue is that I'm the emperor of an old and inactive empire in which NO ONE is playing at the moment - I wanted to know the community's attitude to creating another alias to go play with an ACTIVE empire, whilst leaving my old player with my old empire for historical/sentimental reasons.

As far as I can see, if you create another alias and go play in ANOTHER empire with it - no harm, no foul. Your old scores stay and degrade normally, and your new alias is up and running as a fresh start. We simply seem to have unwittingly uncovered another Metaverse loophole, in that someone could deliberately create multiple aliases in the same empire and get a significant overall point boost to their team. No one (not me, at least) is pointing the finger and calling "cheat"; the Guardians are fine and deserve their spot at the top of the Metaverse; "hate and discontent" are certainly not on my agenda and I don't think anything "sneaky" is going on. In discussing this, we simply need to be mindful of the POTENTIAL for abuse, because abuses of the system have occurred in GalCiv before, and if we don't talk about them, we cant sort them out before REAL trouble occurs, OK? :)

Wombat, To cut a long story short... there is nothing wrong in leaving your old account (inactive) (Retired) in SF and joining a new empire with a new Active player...

My only gripe is as described in this MSG and others I've replied to around the Forums... You know me..(or should by now) and that I'm always doing what in my opinion is best for the game... I speak my opinions openly and often used to get flamed for them...

And those ppl with Active multiple persona's should expect and accept the fact that Stardock HAS the Regulation in the registration screen still.. and CAN if they so desire do something about it to stop cheats... as i say I personally don't know of anyone doing it yet... but it is possible and Stardock and those players are the only ones who'll EVER KNOW that they are doing it...So its totally up to Stardock as to what they'll allow or disallow... and now they can't say that they haven't been warned about it when the judgment hammer comes down... Stardock may end up combining their scores or simply deleting them as they have done with players found cheating in the past

BTW which Empire were you thinking of Joining... you'd be more than welcome in StarFleet

I have actually sent CareElf an email asking her to recombine my personalities. She has declined to do so at this time as she is very busy with GC2 - as are most of the rest of Stardock.
