Speed bonus from starbases

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but I don't remember seeing any posts about it.

Not sure if it's a bug or not, but as I've seen, in order for a ship to get the speed bonus from a starbase upgrade, it has to start its turn in that sector. (Correct me if I'm wrong about this) However, I've noticed when ships leave orbit in one of those same sectors, no speed bonus at all. I'm sure it's due to it starting it's turn in orbit instead of in space. So now I just build a ton of starbases surrounding my empire for ship movement. Now, granted I'd have built most of em anyway :) But it would be nice to be able to build my Space Slingshot(TM) in the sector I'm pumpin out most of my ships from.

Again, not sure if it's a bug or by design... just never seen it mentioned.

I can see why they would want to have the ship start in the sector with the bonus. If you had a ship move into that sector with its last move, it could end up getting free movement. Of course, it just might be the way the number of moves left are calculated.

Thank you. I had noticed this weirdness (some ships getting the bonus and others not) but not noticed the mechanics of why.

I don't think ships moving into the sector should get a bonus (nothing to stop from back and forth across sectors).

I *do* think that newly de-orbited and newly built ships (with auto de-orbit) should get the bonus.

This would be nice to have fixed.

Done. I thought about that too Nicolas, but granted not very much as I was usually too involved in Terran conquest to give much thought to anything else :) Hell, for a while I didn't know constructors even got a bonus... I just build em, fire, and forget. It would be nice to have fixed, but I'm sure there's a lot of higher priority things :)
