For users who have version 1.02.49 (stand alone or from SDC) please post any problems you think are bugs here.

Note: A feature you wish the game had or a change in game play is not a bug. ;)

My saved game crashes on load, both from load game as from load last civilization.

I can send the game if need be.

Regards,
Jacob Warris

I have the same problem as Jacov Warris. My save game also crashes every time I try to load it. Even if I try to load the later autosave or my own save game. It just always crashes.

Please help us soon..

Bug in planetary details screen:

All of my planets show no value listed next to planet quality on the planet details screen (though they DO show it on the main planets screen). The screen I am refering to is the one you get when you press the details button on a planet. Using version 1.03A.57

Sorry if this is already addressed / fixed / or reported. ;)

Thanks! :)

Missing .bik files / errors in .imp files:

The following improvements are missing .bik files or have spelling errors causing them not to display the correct animation in the planetary build list. This is as of 1.03A57 (my appoligies if this is already fixed in the stand alone or in the 1.04 beta)

1. Galactic Monument - syntax error
Model "GalMonument"
should be
Model "GalacticMonument"

2. Orbital Hospital - syntax error
Model "AgentaCenter"
should be
Model "OrbitalHospital"

3. Propaganda Center - missing bik
Model "PropagandaCenter" does not exist in my directories... or possibly this entry should be "PropagandaMachine" like the Propaganda Machine Wonder???

4. Research Center - syntax error
Model "ReasearchCenter"
should be
Model "ResearchCenter"

5. Both Terraforming and The Terraformer use
Model "Terraforming". Since this is the same .bik displayed when there is no correct model to display, I am assuming that Terraforming.bik is used as the default animation?

Thanks Cari (and all the devs!!!) for a great game and incredible support :D

From HawaiiFive-O:

Oh, and CariElf, if you do check out this thread, there are a few problems with the Tech files too.

Here are the 4 bugged techs, they are all in GCTech.tech:
High Density Metals
Tri-Strontium Alloy
Advanced Slavery
Nano-Mining

All of these techs are marked with the Ability "Production", but grant no bonus. This is because the game won't recognize the "Production" attribute. Change "Production" to "SocialProduction" or "MilitaryProduction" and it works.

Probably known: Altarians offer peacetreaty, i accept and make peace with the Torians who they are allied with. Next turn both Torians and Altarians invade some of my systems and i'm at war again like nothing happened.

1.03:
- up vote to give transports +20 attack still exists. I thought this was being changed to +20 DEFENCE

Playing on a Gigantic Galactic map, almost finished the game. I had many constructors moving at one time. Next turn the game crashes to the desktop and the game will not recover. Crashes at the same point no matter what I do. In fact playing Gigantic maps it seems to crash quite frequently. I never had any games crash on me before either.
Reloading all my games now it shows like 8 turns to finish a given tech. Reload that game later to continue my save, it shows that same tech will not take 17 turns. My influence is about half as much as well.
I started a new game on a Hugh map this time. I was pretty much in the middle of the galaxy. I was only a few years into this game. I found the Drengin on the south west side of the galaxy. I was poking around at a cluster to the East North East of my colonies and I find a new location for Drengin. This is not possible in any game. No way could he have researched the range techs to move too the other side of a Hugh map. >:( :notsure: :d
I hope this helps with making the next patch. :)

2 small bugs (v1.02)

1) On the research screen the "tech summary" has no scrollbar but frequently text that runs past the bottom

2) On the Foreign Policy screen, select minor races and then speak to a minor race. Next press the leave button to end the conversation. The Foreign Policy screen will show the picture of the last "major race" you talked to although you are still in the minor races section and will interact with the minor races.

I just invaded and conquered a Carinoid system, not their last system, and when the video for 'An invasion of a planet is an immense undertaking' played, it was the wrong video, it was the video that plays when a civilization has been completely conquered.

It is repeatable. Invade the Rathra system. The savegame file is available at http://www.geocities.com/sablestone/BUG.zip

Three CTDs with 1.03.057, WinXP, DX9.0a. All CTDs occurred at end of turn when I hit the 'enter' key to advance to the next turn.

Bug report for 1.03A.057

I can set autopilots for ships and hit the next turn button and the first time the ships will move but there after the ships will not move for a couple of turns. I havw Windows XP. This issue did not happen with all previous versions I had.

I won a game on challenging difficulty, gigantic universe, and got a whole 52 points for it, while I got 1500 points for a similar game at a lower difficulty level. Something is bugged here.

Every once in a while, when I reload a game, the following problems show up:

-keyboard commands don't work (ie "center" doesn't center on ships, keyboard movement doesn't work)
-mouse movement of ships doesn't work either (they get the autopilot written next to them, have full movement points, but refuse to move)
-when I hit "next turn" the little clock icon appears, but the next turn doesn't ever arrive.

This generally happens when I'm really frustrated and keep loading past save games to somehow figure out a way to beat the genius AI. The only way I found to fix this is exiting and restarting the game.

I have the newest version of the game (1.03A.057) running on WinXP.

AirWreck: Do you have the file combattransport.mdl in your galciv\gfx directory? Are you using any ship mods?

The alliance win summary is fixed in 1.04

Goatherder: well, I've never tried doing CTRL+SHift+clicking. Try just shift clicking. And can I have your save game to run tests with?

Desert Fox: do you use any mods? I'll take a look at your save game too to see if I can find anything, but if you use mods, I'm going to need your entire data folder zipped up.

Vanir: darnit. I had put in code to fix that at one point. ::sigh:: Fixed it again.

Don't ally with minor races. There is no way to break the alliance.

When the turn won't end, it's usually waiting for you to do something. You may have a colony ship waiting to colonize a planet. You may have been viewing events and hit turn before exiting from the planet data screen. You may just have a ship that was on autopilot with moves left.

I fixed the bink name typos and made note of the propaganda center to ask the art director about when he gets back from E3.

About the transports +20 attack, we haven't changed that issue yet still discussing exactly what should be done about it, and then we'll need to do some testing on on it.

CodeMonkey: all of your crashes are in the same place, but it's in the AI code so I've sent an e-mail to Brad. If you can change your morality, you might be able to get past the crash.

BuzuBuzu: Were there any dialogs open when you loaded the new game?

It's the smallest of nitpicks, but the opening video for GalCiv claims that the hyperdrive enables /instantaneous/ transit to any point in the galaxy, which is inconsistent with both the game and the manual. It should really be referring to FTL travel.

Have a problem.

Experiencing game crash when changing government to Republic as a Universalist. Happens when clicking Next on Senate voting screen.

I really don't feel like waiting until I research Star Democracy to see if it happens there too. :notsure:

I've been getting crashes on a fairly regular basis ever since I started playing on medium size galaxies (I bumped up from the smaller galaxies). It doesn't really start happening until near the end ... perhaps due to the many units in the game? Also, it seems to mostly occur in the diplomacy screen, though one time it happened elsewhere.

Hi CariElf

>well, I've never tried doing CTRL+SHift+clicking. Try just shift clicking.

Oh, really? I remembered you suggesting this operation to someone in one of the posts.

> And can I have your save game to run tests with?

Sure thing. I'll send it to you as soon as I get back home.

Just a little UI thing. When you're playing "pure good" the display changes and the separator between the stacked ships box and the graphs box is about 1/4" too low and partially obscures the stacked ships box.

Well, like others here, I'm getting a crash whenever I try to load my autosave or previous autosave for the current game I'm playing.

If you would like a copy of my saves, let me know.
