Duplicate Wonder occurred in my game with 1.02.049

Posted in Bug Report thread already, but FYI for users.

Im' using the latest version, and I just had a duplicate wonder bug occur. I invaded and took a planet from a minor race, Cardinians (sp?) I believe. The planet contained the "Eyes of the Universe" wonder already. A Couple years later, the Drengins have just built the same wonder.

I posted it in the bugs (Its not the same thing) but if you use the Generic/Imperial Build queue then it will build all buildings not on that planet including trade goods/wonders/achievments already built elsewhere

Saved game, so maybe that could have something to do with it.

We only fixed the AI building multiple tradegoods/wonders. I was still testing the generic governor queue.

Version 1.02.049

There is a related bug... I accidentally scheduled 2 of my worlds to build a species unique (manu capital). After the first one was built, I was surprised to see the second one was still being built.

And that reminds me... if a minor race builds a unique wonder, you can still build it. It won't clear out of your social list. So long as you don't swap, you can finish the wonder. It seems to only clear of a Major race builds the wonder. (You can still access building that wonder using the generic queue though.)

Combine that with the previous bug of not clearing, and you can rack up some interesting duplicates.

This seems to have been a very difficult behavioural bug to get rid of. Good luck!

I have severals duplicate wonder on my current game. I have build 3 or 4 important one but the game doesn't take them in account and a few turn later the AI finish them and this time they appear in the diplomacy screen as AI wonders...
But they are still in the list of my planet buildings...

Also - not sure if this is by design, but if you capture an enemy planet that is building a ship you don't have the tech for, you can continue building as many of that ship as you like as long as you don't change the build orders. I had this happen a few times last night - the Dregnin were building Dreadnaughts and I hadn't even researched Battleships. Fortunatley they were picking fights with every one, so I snuck in and took a world or two. I certainly didn't mind access to the Dreads, but this may be a bug too...

I'm sorry...to me this is a big deal. There is no greater thrill in a Civ-type game than that moment when you've won the race to build an exclusive wonder. The tension is thick in the turns preceding its completion, wondering if you're going to get it or if someone will pull the rug out under you. This is one of the best features of the genre! For me, it's the hook.

The bug that allows multiple "exclusive" wonders is one of the first things I noticed when I bought and played the game the day after it was released. It's also the main reason I haven't played the game again since those first couple of days. I've been waiting for this to be fixed so I can experience that thrill again. And now it's 2 major revisions and a ton of minor ones later and it's still not fixed? I have sympathy for how hard the developers have to work and believe me, I'm not trying to be a troll. But please, can we fix this??? Since I download the stand-alone patches, it looks like it's going to be another couple of weeks at least before I can get back into the game. :(

I have duplicate Wonders in my post 1.02 games as well.

If an AI builds a Wonder before me all production on that Wonder ceases. However if I build a Wonder first the AI can continue his production then complete the Wonder and proclaim to the Galaxy his proud achievment!

Wonders can inject nice bonuses on a given civ and for duplicates to occur is akin to cheating.

On good note the duplicate trade goods seem to be non-existant....

Wonders were great in Civ, esp going into the city screen and seeing just the base of the pyramids... loved that.

And then the cut scenes were nice as well.

I don't get the same feeling in Galciv. It just feels anti-climactic I suppose in comparison. Which is too bad, I mean these are `Galactic Wonders'!!! But, what could they really do about it anyways?

News sheet blurb kind of thing (if you have news networks - and different slant depending upon what gov)?
Fun, but hardly necessary.

Too bad. But then, this is a different game.
Don't get me wrong, love the game.

*Bump*ing this thread because someone couldn't find it and started a new one with the same topic. I'll echo his thoughts (and my own again) by saying I hope this issue receives top priority. This is more important than fixing starbase cheese or AI tactics or whatever. At least the starbases and AI work as advertised (even though they can be exploited). Exclusive wonders *DON'T*. The analogy is too simplistic, but I'd prefer all four tires be firmly on the car before you worry about fine-tuning the engine. This tire is technically on the car (the wonders do work) but the lugnuts are loose and it's wobbling.

AI's can duplicate trade items and wonders but I cannot!

Playing normal AI,medium galaxy game,I'm getting dups all over the place. :sniff!:

I believe the duplicate fix was not all encompassing as stated in the upgrade readme. It's still a work in progress.

Actually, you can. Just select your 'Generic' governor.

Duplicate wonders and trade items happen all the time in my games, every game. When a wonder or trade item is complete it doesn't seem to be taken out of the queue of the AI players. I posted that bug a couple days after release, I think others did too.

Well ugh.. I hope they manage to patch this soon. The entire premise behind Wonders *and* Trade Goods is moot if everyone can make them. They have zero importance. In fact, they are worse (for you), since you can't even make the things if another race does. Grrrr...

But I'm not upset at the devs. They have been superlative in their efforts to patch this game! :CONGRAT:

I just hope it continues to get top priority to fix. Having a worthless feature makes me sad.. (:(
