Crazy Torian Constructors Everywhere! (Bug?)

Okay, the following is a screenshot from an early game of GalCiv on a small galaxy:

http://www.dimfuture.net/galciv/galciv-1.jpg

Note the green Torian manufacturing level on the right as compared to my own. Note that it's quite early in the game. Then look at that big old fleet of Constructors! This is AFTER they've already built two or three starbases and pretty much maxed them out... I was lucky to be able to grab just a tiny bit of resource for myself.

My question is, how can the Torians build these huge fleets of Constructors with such a small manufacturing base? Where are they all coming from? Is this a bug?

Yes, it's a bug - I know from a post earlier today that Brad was looking into it.

Where I'm confused is someone (not a Stardock emp) posted over in the strat usenet group that it had been fixed and even explained that a bug was allowing them to complete constructors in a single turn (no damn wonder I'm losing culturally to the Torians in my game), but there's clearly nothing newer tha 1.03052 out, nor is there anything posted *here* which is where he said he got the info.

Yes, I'm haveing the same problems w/ masses of Torian constructors. I thought I was just WAY behind. Now I have a real excuse :)

Man am I glad I saw this post--I thought I was losing my mind.Im in a game right now where the Torians are trapped in a corner wit very few planets and im the civ that stopped their expansion. The few resources that I have located are already Torian and VERY well developed.
+ I had a stream of constructors travel through my terratory towards other resources. This is very early in the game and I cant figure how they can pump out so many already.I did get one resource by sending out a constructor in front of their stream figuring they know where they are going. But it bugs me that they can not only build constructors at an unbeleivable rate but they also know where the resources are without exploring.
I know the ai has stellar cartography right from the start but do they have to know the locations of resources too???
For a game touted as being a cheat free game Im getting more and more disapointed by the day.

I have lots of experience with discovering unclaimed resources sitting right next to the AI. That shouldn't be the case if AI knows all the locations of resources and with the aggression that it goes for them.

Yeah--well maybe this is part of the bug cause I saw torian constructors streaming toward a resource that I know they didnt see cause it was in my area and I never saw any torian ship near it before the -and this is no lie-5+ Torian constructors headed right for it.In fact I saw lots of these ships heading in all directions EARLY in the game before I even built many of my own-And I build many in the early game.

I get so sick of this --Im just posting my observations and some fanboy comes along and says--NOOO --its NOT possible!!!!!--Well let me tell you it is--It probably is a bug but before you say Im wrong you should run some tests of your own.make sure you start close to the Torians and you will see.
this is on 1.03--then if you dissagree post it but dont tell me its not true untill you test it yourself.
I didnt just stop playing when I saw this HUGE amount of ships --I FOLLOWED them and they ALL where heading toward resources. Some being too far away for them to have effectively scouted all these places.

Cool it, Doc. This could be a bug and I could be wrong, of course. Try 1.03.53 and see how it works out. :)

Roger that--sorry man--It has to be a bug-but no need to tell me about your past experiances--I too have found resouces right next to other civs --Im worried that in the new patch the ai can see all the resources at the start.

I was always under the impression that the ai had a complete map of the universe. That they could not only see all the yellow stars, but the resources, anomolies, etc. on account that they were in space long before the humans and have everything all mapped out.

But yeh, the crazyness with the torian constructors is crazy, especially w/ the increaded cost, I just can't keep up.

One night of noneplaying thus I completely missed it. But this is probably what happens if the AI gets to cheat like it does in eg Civ3.

Looking at your comments the AI gets REALLY scary when it gets to cheat like madness. And this was only about constructors... scary ;)

I would assume thats from the bug where you can't stop building constructors, and spit one out every turn. Most likely the maintenance drove them so deep in the red numbers that they had to halt their production of everything (it would still spit out constructors nonstop though). Happens to players as well. Forgot what patch the bug was in, but it should be fixed by now.

I'm playing 1.03 and also getting crushed by the Torian constructor plague (there like locusts). They basically gobble up all resources and max out the stations before I can even crank out a few constructors. Definitely a BIG game cramper. :sniff!:

Humane, the lastest build of 1.03, namely .054 fixes this problem. So go get it!

Heh, glad that was a bug and it's been fixed. I played last night after updating earlier in the day. Only a few years into the game, discover a Torian station... It had to have more than a dozen modules! Oddly enough, I found, deep in Torian space, 3 stars, in the same sector, lined up in a row, with 4 planets (17,19,19,26!)... and about 30 Torian constructors (some 5-6 ships stacked) just whizzing about, ignoring them. I was wondering if this was some new strategy that the Torians were using. :D

I think I'll start another game, now that it's been patched.

I've expereinced this massive constructor fleet bug as well with the Arceans. Early in the game the comp produces an vastly unrealistic fleet of these things. In my current game the Yor have produced a overabundance of transports...
