Two AI starbases on the same square

I was attacking the Drengin last night and they had a starbase (small graphic) that would not display when I double-clicked it.
I destroyed it with a dreadnought and, lo and behold, there was a second Drengin starbase on the square. I have no idea how that happened, but there it was.
