G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

Robert: Are you on dial up or dsl? If you are on dsl and yet still have a dial up modem, try dialing up your service via your dial up, and posting that way. Someone did that and had some luck posting. Other than that, I'd say go to stardock central hit chat, then /join # galciv and usually there's a techie there.

Also if you are on a network, and your station doesn't have the connection to the internet, they are having trouble with the network recognition stuff. But at least you have em saved and will be able to post em.

An update from Galaxy Delta Delta Delta.

I am done with the seeding process and looks like I took about 1/3 of the Galaxy. But better than that, no one has any foothold in my space. I have one in Yor space and enough influence it won't roll over. Furthermore, the council implemented a 20% tax on those at war. OUch!!! Guess this isn't going to be a grind it out shoot em up. Although I found it Ironic just after I subverted everyone to be at war with everybody, this thing passed. HEHE.

Looking Good so far on painful difficulty. Hope that Fundamentalist movement event passes this galaxy by.

Carry on G.R.O.S.S. ers!!!!!

The War of the South Seas between GROSS and ANZAC goes on. The first phase, the South Sea Skirmishes, was a series of rapid battles were both sides were trading lead pretty equally. GROSS made piracy a primary tactic, where ANZAC resorted to using trained sheep for bombing and assassination. Then there was an intermission, where GROSS controlled the battlefield and ANZAC regrouped. Now, we enter a new phase: the Beer Battles. Now, things start to get nasty. :)

Update from Delta Delta Delta Galaxy. This one's definitely in the G.R.O.S.S. camp. An hour or two tomorrow and it's all over. I'm too tired to finish it up tonight. But I'll go ahead and seed the next game. That doesn't take much brain function. HEHE. Good night. We are gaining on #2. We may be fewer in number and have fewer games in, but we're right in there fighting.!!!!! Well done G.R.O.S.S. ers.

My latest Galciv adventure is probably at the mid-game mark. There was a yellow tide sweeping the center of the galaxy, so I had to start teaching them a lesson. Took 3 Arcean planets out of 12 in a lightning raid, munched at least half of his navy, but I won't go to the peace talks until a fourth planet in a key sector falls. Then I will just flip the other planet there, reload for wave #2 of planet taking if needed, and figure out how I want to start to finish this game. Made some mad money off of being tech broker before I went hot on the Arcs. Had like 10K built up and no one is even to battleships yet. I just love an occasional early rush to get a better piece of the pie.

Oh, by the way, is military the new way to go score wise? The old way was tech on gigantic maps. Now I hear some talk about military on a small map. Not that it will really effect my game style, heck, I will probably still win by culture any time I don't turn that victory condition off. But just how do the four types of victory stack up to each other now?

Gerakken,

My feel (no hard numbers) is culture, tech, alliance, military - ascending score.
Yep. I agree. With limited experience I thought military and then Alliance. Am so pleased I don't have to go for tech anymore: and on the small maps I doubt one would EVER need to try for a tech victory to win.

Gerraken: I'm concerned for Pontius: seems tired and listless lately. Maybe check on Pontius for us and give a backrub or two. :sniff!:

I'm sure Frenchy requires it of his lap poodles, but I need no such favor.

I don't know. I actually think a tech win should get you the most points on tiny but the least on Gigantic. Hard to balance it out on all map sizes. And the reality is, the way to win is actually the same, and then at the end it becomes a choice of what victory condition to satisfy.

Freya, there is a big difference between justified criticism and unjustified personal attacks. As I still claim that I have not done what you accuse me of having done, I reckon your statments belong more to the latter category than to the former. Besides, I do not think that is that unreasonable to suggest that traitors (Noooo nooo unjustified personal attack there. Friggin hypocrite) should perhaps not be readmitted. Notice, however, that I did specify that this was a matter for a future Senate to discuss, and that it is not just up to me to decide.

Freya: Ignore this pompous, arrogant stuffed shirt. Just play and have fun. You'll get none of that crap here. Once G.R.O.S.S. always G.R.O.S.S. in our book. Everyone is free to come and go as he or she pleases.
Definitely taking himself and this game far too seriously.

Oh, absolutely uncalled for. Freya could sue him for slander, and force him to stand down while the charges are investigated. If you guys did that before their big elections, you could throw them into anarchy, since there's no procedure mentioned for a replacement.

And, since that's about as much damage as one empire can actually DO to another here, you can declare a massive victory to boot.
LMAO Quack. You belong in G.R.O.S.S. Actually, all Anzac's belong in G.R.O.S.S. But it seems you love your own identity (sigh) But it looks like impune is hanging himself on his own. Sometime's it's better to do nothing and let them implode on their own rather than try and stir it up and give them a rallying cry. HEHE.

Oh and Greg. You got your $20 together yet?

Well, unlike the Euros, we have no bunker for GROSS. Like we need one. No secrets here. All is posted on our monster thread. That is when we are not crashing other threads as well.

Now, once again, I must educate the heathens about what it is to be GROSS. I have no need to give the boss any special favors. GROSS kind of runs like a relay race. Instead of an absolute leader all pay total homage to, we pass the baton back and forth all the time to one another. Hey, boss, catch! :)

Catches the Keg, Drinks and tosses it on. Here Staffa, Catch!!!.

I'm to a point where my puter takes a couple minutes to run a turn. So Some Congrats are in order

Tiny: Staffa #2 Exarch #10
Small: Exarch #24
Medium: Ice mole #17
Large: Exarch #24
Huge: Would not come up
Gigantic Staffa: #1

Overall: Staffa #1.

Staffa meets the autoqualify criteria for Senate. Congrats, if you want to be a senator.

Bah, I was number 1 on tiny yesterday :( Now I need
to play another tiny map and then start working on
large :)

Overlord sounds cooler then senator anyday :)
HEHE. All senators are also overlords.

I gotta start working on Large as well. Or medium. Get some decent quickie pointers ready to go. They won't help me that much till I get more games in though. Then back to my biggies.

I imagine the Lap Poodles actually lick him rather than give him back rubs.

Yep, the 'small' map is boring.

Wow, Staffa. Your confession on another thread was..unnerving. I'm glad I'm not good at anything in particular, especially gaming. Saw a show recently on gaming in Korea where the top players are treated like movie stars, even with a stretch limo pulling up to the RTS game competition (forget which one). That did look sort of cool.
