Game Change Summary for 1.03 and Beyond

This thread is intended to supplement the already 30+ page posting entitled "Let us know what you'd like in v1.03"

I absolutely LOVE the game so far, but because people are filling the thread with novels of supporting info for their suggestions and conversing back and forth about the merit of the changes, my fear is that the data the developers need to get is becoming lost in all the text.  Hopefully this will make their jobs easier and get more of the changes you want to see in the next round of patches

Therefore, this page should only consist of a very BRIEF and simple list of the changes you would like to see for v1.03 and beyond.  If you need to write a paragraph explaining why you want this update or change, please submit it to the main thread.  Also, please no replies commenting on other peoples suggestions.  Limit that to the main thread as well.  We will let the developers make the decisions on what to cut and what to add.  They seem like pretty sharp people and will know what will enhance the game and what will create an unbalanced or degraded play experience. 

Here is my list:

-Fix to the minidump crash in multiplayer games 

-Fix to the nvidia graphics driver issue at higher resolutions

-Improved effectiveness of phase jump inhibiters

-Improved effectiveness of Planetary defenses

-Longer time between Pirate Raids

-More diplomacy options

-More time to accomplish missions, and an option to decline with a smaller impact to relations

-A single player campaign

Feel free to post as many times as you want with new info.  Just remember to keep it short and to the point.  This will help them get through all the ideas faster and more efficiently

While the game is pretty cool, its already starting to wear thin due to the clumsy ship pathfinding and inability to have any sort of fine control over your ships(my perception)

How bout not setting a space game in ridiculously restrictive 2D space?

the ability to set your own formations

the ability to set ships to guard another ship

the ability to give AI players missions

Fix the names list in the lobby so it doesn't jump to the top every time someone leaves.

Have a different color for players that are in games, so you know they're not actually in the lobby.

I've found that special effect that have impact on ships is NOT displayed anywhere in the game. Many ppl might think it's in the status window displayed when moused over a ship, but NO, it's NOT. this srsly is affecting high lvl gaming and desperately needs to be added.

I'd like to see a diplomatic set up similar to Galactic Civ2.
2nd the single player campaign.
also agree with the idea of formation setting.

A jump calculator/estimator. When plotting paths for fleets it would be very helpful to know how long either estimated or actual (barring delays)time it will take a ship or a fleet to travel a specific route. It could be attached to the tech tree either a existing or new tech that would allow for more accurate estimates of transit times.

You forgot the primary fix that should not be forgotten...

- Frame rate dive with coloured text on screen

which the devs said would be fixed in the 1.03 patch!

this is regarding online, u should be able to PM others (and they are able to read the Pm will in games too), able to find players will theyre offline, and be able to watch others play online (dont know if this already in game)

Don't add a single player campaign. Having played Gal Civ, I can safely say that although Stardock makes good games, they aren't good at crafting campaigns. They got better in Dark Avatar though- they should simply do more flexible victory conditions and combat chater so players can simulate storylines.

Plus, you shouldn't add a campaign for the same reason you don't have multiplayer in GC. Slightly different levels of cost (okay, large one), but many campaigns people will only play once. You could add an expanded tutorial for each race if you want to add more backround.

- Modders can now change ship count per page of factory, up to 8 ships per page
- Modders can now add more pages to the capital ship and frigate factories
- Modders can now add more than 5 capital ships to the factory
- Modders can now define custom EntityTypes (can add leveling, etc to frigate type for example)
- Modders no longer have to copy unchanged files into mod folders

I need formations or a little smarter ship movement in general.

I think when it comes to planetary bombardment, HP should go entirely first, then the population. Right now everyone dies before the HP wear out and it kinds seems dumb as the HP represents bomb shelters and the strength of the planets infrastructure, and it seems weird that everyone on the planet dies, but the invaders have to nuke every building before they can land.

- more winning conditions
- spy ships (that can't be detected), culture ships, jump inhibitor ships,
- ships or space stations that can build or destroy phase lanes (or wormholes)
- more variety for missions.
- single player campaign (for those who like it)
- stay on the path (not another 08/15 RTS)

Thought of this tonight.
Make the AI suffer the same diplomat settings the Player has to. Im my current game the AI was trading back and forth for most(at least it appeared that way) of the game and (at least it appeared that way)at war at the same time.
Also give us something so we can see who is at war and who is allied with each other.

This stuff may not be as big a factor in MP games. but since I play mostly solo against the AI I does affect the game a lot.
