Star Wars Mod Help

I am attempting to create a star wars mod, but I've run into a few problems.

1. Does anyone know how to change the color of the lasers and beams? I am trying to get the factions lasers to match the movies. I.E. Empire green, Rebels red.

2. How do I import new models for ships so I can change the various ships to match the Star Wars universe? In other words, how do I get the TEC battleship to look like an Imperial Star Destroyer?

3. Along those lines, how do I move the weapons around? Is it possible? That way, for example, the beam from the death star comes out of the crater instead of, say, the top of the ship?

4. What should the third race be? I was thinking maybe the Old Republic. Maybe making them all of the robots and stuff. Possibly calling them the Old Republic Remnant. Kind of the remnant of the Old Republic that wants to destroy both the rebels and the Empire for screwing stuff up. I don't know. Ideas would be helpful.

1. The lasers are a image file, so you can simply add a layer of the color you want, merge the two layers, and convert back to dds. I don't rememebr the actual file name you will have to look.

2. XSI can be used to create the required models. Each weapon on the ship is represented by a bone. Naming should go along the lines of Weapon-0, Weapon-1, etc. Each weapon with a different number is a different TYPE of weapon. The game doesn't care how many barrels there are per weapon because it only takes into consideration the damage per weapon. So if you want weapon-0 to have 4 barrels/turret locations then you would have 4 bones labled "Weapon-0". If you don't know how to model then I would say learn how because that isn't a short anwsere.

3. Stated above, I'm not sure if they can actually rotate on the ship I believe all weapons are static.

4. Beats me

This post may seem very forward, for that I apologise.

EvilleJedi has already started with a Star Wars mod, and although you are free to do what you want, surely it would benefit you both if you signed up on his and added your input. Rather than you both carrying the same weight, why don't you share it together.

To your first question, without sounding too harsh, everything to do with colours and textures will be in the Textures folder. If you haven't seen that yet, might I suggest doing some smaller mods and modding before you throw yourself in at the deep end. My point here extends to your second and third questions too, as with most things, start small and work your way up, gradually getting bigger and more complex.

And for your last question, I'd say leave the third race out. Yes there were hundreds of other minor factions and militia, but the main conflict in the Star Wars universe is between the Rebels and the Empire. Unless you are going for another era, then there may be more sides, but the most popular time is from the original trilogy.

Link to the Star Wars Warlords forum. This is where EvilleJedi is based and has a strong community.

I don't know how to mod, but for the third race, it would be cool if it was either the "true sith" from the Knights of the Old Republic series (the guys that revean was trying to save everyone from) which would give you a lot of room for creativity.

About your last question... Have you considered the Yuuzhan Vong? If you don't know about them, then you suck as a star wars fan ;) but here is a quick link:

if you look into the expanded universe of starwars specificaly after episode 6 ull find a couple new races/ enemies for which the empire and rebels/new republic unite to fight against or it becomes a 3 way fight.

I agree with this suggestion. It should be noted that the other mod is already seeming to be well under way. You would learn a lot about modding and hopefully be able to contribute to a well polished mod.
