No very hard setting?

I am kinda sad there is no very hard setting, just easy/normal/hard, I was hoping for at least a very hard or even more advanced like the civ type games.  I know the game will be refined a lot through patches and increasing of enemy AI but I really want to be challenged and feel like I could lose.   Is there a plan on a very hard addition in the new patches?

These guys pride themselves on not making cheating AI levels (i.e. no bonus resources, faster construction etc.) So it's not as easy for them as it is for other developers, who can just crank the cheating higher. 1.03 is going to see more AI upgrades, until then, if you want more of a challenge, go against multiple hard AIs in locked teams.

Hm that is a idea I can 100% agree with, nothing worse than all AI difficulties are AI's that cheat and get bonuses hmmm well I am hoping the patch will make them a bit more viscious. Ah so if I lock them into teams they will be right after me? It seems like they all go after me anyway lol. Ok I will try that ^^

Maybe there can be a "Cheating AI" mod ;p

If you want a harder game against the AI, play against two or more Hard AIs on a locked team, on a medium or larger map.

You mean unlocked teams, right? A FFA against unlocked teams will allow the enemy AI to team up against you (and this is pretty much guaranteed to happen). Locked teams will remain individual, and so fight amongst each other at least somewhat.

...Unless you mean a 2 v 1 type game, with 2 locked AI? I imagine that would be quite tough, particularly mid-game.

You might try to go online, and play someone who will actually deploy decent tactics.

Take planetary defenses. You can just spam turrets as close to the phase lane as possible, and the computer will just drive through, and fight your fleet there.

The AI will never scout your fleet, look at what kind of setup you have, and build counters against it.

AIs, with no exceptions, in RTS games has always been challenging in one way, and that's because they can do everything at once. You won't even see any form of micro from them.

The 4X elements in this game isn't strong enough to offset that the core of the game itself is RTS.

That's exactly what I mean - set yourself up in a 1 v many AI, and lock the AI in their own team so they don't fight.

That's what I meant - if you put two or more AIs on the same team and lock the teams they'll never fight with each other, only with you. ;)

I hear that, the AI is no challenge anymore. Just the other day I was playing solo vs. 4 hard AI on the same locked team and a half an hour into I knew that the game was going to be no challenge, just a build up and sweep. I love the dynamics of multi player, but I just don't have the time to devote to those games except maybe 1 or 2 on the weekend if I'm lucky. Harder AI for sure! Like I want an Evil Genius setting.
