Whats so HALOOOOOOO about it? Halo is by far a pretty general game. I can't think of any part of it that is original. They just took many ideas that are popular is science fiction. For example ringsworlds and "The Flood."

Thats why you ALWAYS ask permission first to use a IP. Its only fair to them and to your modelers. I blame their mod leader, not mMicrosoft, for letting themselves get shut down. He should have asked first before wasting his teams time. Trust me, if you pester them enough they will eventually respond.

I said ask Microsoft, not bungie, because Microsoft owns the IP. If Bungie does not own the IP then they have no right to tell halogen not to use the IP. HOWEVER at that time bungie was part of Microsoft..so its the same legal department. Right now I think Microsoft still owns it don't they? I'm not sure if Bungie was allowed to take it with them when they left Microsoft.

Thats why you pester them until they give you one. I'm the lead level designer for a Crysis mod, Mechwarrior: Living Legends. It took us six months to get written permission from Microsoft to use the Mechwarrior IP (yes, microsoft owns the rights to Mechwarrior/battletech in the gaming realm.) My point in all this is yes it took six months, but thats better then three years wasted. And in that it is possible to get a response from even the giant that is Microsoft (though you may have to explain what a Mod is several times.)

thats a several million pound lawsuit right there. halogen got it easy.

i have read, ive had to look into this alot, im part of the halo homefront mod, so weve had to make sure exactly why they were shut down

we found out that they used sounds and models from halo 1, so rather take models from the game, we are making everything ourselves, and giving credit to bungie/microsoft

and also halo wars, halo wars is effectively halogen, but halogen is part of command and conquer, which helps CnC, not bungie.

Wrong, you tool. Everything we had was modeled and textured from scratch. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to compare the two. Somehow we also managed to steal Halo 2 models from before the game was even released? Yeah, that totally makes sense. Halo PC sounds were used in the internal alpha, that's it.
You haven't "read" anything other than slander by scummy mods like your own. The only reason Microsoft hasn't gone after Homefront too is because no one cares about it. It has zero fanbase.

Yes but thats the point what are gas giants but staging areas for ships , why not turn gas giants into a habital planet , After the correct reseach has been conducted , just like volcanic and ice planets , it could be a huge weapons platform using the gas as fuel .

Ok, fine. Since you don't want to play into the whole idea of sufficient technology in a scifi world that can do whatever the writer wants...then how about something a bit more fathomable...

The act of "colonizing" the world results in orbital mining installations. Then, what kind of stuff do you want the planet to do? The act of terraforming, not sure how we would do that. As many options as we have to change the game...we are limited.

i apologize, i was led to beleive that you were shut down because you were using these sounds.



and who are you to judge how popular our mod is.

and dont call me a tool, like i said, i was told by 3 people (including one of your own team) that it was because you 'stole' those sounds. Also, halo wars influenced it alot, and since no proper canon space RTS can be made without making MASSIVE balancing comprimises, i say its safe to make a halo mod in space.
