Wormhole scare tactics?

I saw the following on Wikipedia in reference to wormholes:

"however, a little luck is needed to traverse them due to the chance of the ships being permanently destroyed or appearing in an alternate dimension (leaving the game)"

Is this true? Nobody I've talked to has ever had this happen, so it sounds like FUD.

they could have made it where they didnt exactly send a whole fleet to the same wormhole though....like if you have a fleet of 100 ships going through......they start popping up all over...at random wormholes..all scattered about
