arrogance in the threads.

arrogance in the threads.

It shrkes me in the short time I've been in these forums that there is a lot of arrogance here.

So many ppl trying to shut down very valid comments and questions with arrogant and pompous one line replies like,

duh, that's easy, I kick their asses on hard every time,
this is just spam cause I said something about that in another thread.
please don't ask such silly questions.

I wont actually quote any ppl, but you all recognise the attitude.

Why do some members insist on making themselves look so stupid and pompous.

The guys I respect are the ones that help everyone, spend their time to reply to the real noobs and skilled gamers alike,

Not the pig headed morons who think their better than the rest and therefore would rather insult than answer,

Whoever is running this forum knows what they're doing. I don't know if any of you have run big websites before, but the most effective administration is the most transparent.

If you want to see a demonstration of this, go sign up to become a youth soccer referee. If you miss a call the parents will let you know. If you make a call you shouldn't the parents will DEFINITELY let you know. And if you're just a complete jerk, like some other game company forum administrations are (Epic Games), then you'll be chased off the field and people will try to get you fired. If you think negativity is bad here, you "ain't seen nothing". Let the players duke it out. The moment people start running around locking and deleting things is the moment bad threads get blamed on admins instead of forum members AND the number of negative threads skyrockets. Just like a soccer referee, if you sit out of focus and wait for someone to truly screw up badly and only make penalizing calls when you have to, then everyone stays happy...unless it's a bad day.

NOTE: Just to clarify, I'm not saying don't lock/delete this thread. I'm just saying that over-moderation causes as many problems as under-moderation. There's a careful balance that must be achieved, and so far I see that balance here and hope it stays.

Meh well if you want to call it trolling I can't stop you but I find it idiotic and irresponsibly ignorant to ask what something does when it is already explained very well in game.

you have two options

one reply in an endless loop were you try to reason and justify or get your view across were it will never end and drag the thread on till end of time or

option 2 ignore and reply with helpful comments based on actual game knowledge to the original post

I find most of the wars that start on any forum start with one person trying to justify and disprove in a rude or arogant way the other persons post.
the best thing to do in that situation is ignore and leave alone i have learnt that very late.

ps good luck and enjoy the stay and thanks for taking the time to join the forums :)
my usual 2 cents

Questionable word choice (doesn't afraid of anything?) but I agree with you.
Perhaps, though, it should indeed be set in off-topic, or something. No matter though :P

I can't tolerate:

a) People starting new threads when there are already threads about the same topic that are active on the front page.

b) People asking questions that could be answering by reading the manual, doing the tutorials, or spending a few second on Google.

c) Atrocious spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

If you don't commit any of these offenses, I like to think I'm fairly polite and helpful. If you do, I may or may not come off as rude, depending on what sort of mood I'm in.

I think that pretty much sums up my position too, though there is so much of point c) that you just learn to live with it, I think.
Duplicated threads aren't bad, but when they're downright dumb, in that they're brand new despite active ones on the front page, they just annoy me.
As an honest question, is this arrogance?

This debate over trolling is dangerously wandering over into the spectrum of Political Correctness. It's best to ignore the people you've somehow offended. I didn't know people were such digital softies.

What amuses me the most about anti-trolling threads is that they always start off with a troll whining about trolls.

Flame baiting is trolling no matter how good the intentions might have originally been.

Opposition? Eh?
Or am I interpreting this all wrong?
I'm probably just talking through my inner ear... never mind me...
