[Bug] Ships (pseudo) phasing jump without my command

Hello,
i saw this problem frequently and i did not find it in search clearly.
Here a couple of images:

and

And a replay (10:00 to 11:57) in meteore gravity well with my Vassari ships:

What's happens?

I order to a fleet to move to somewhere, and after that, ONE ship goes to phase jump line, but he did not phase jump, USE ALT to see the movements.

Bye

I'm pretty sure this happens to everyone . . . and I have no clue how to fix it.

Yep, I can confirm this. Happening to me as well.

well i beleive if they are in a fleet and the fleet leader is another zone he'll try to jump towards it.
also if their auto join fleet behavior is enabled they might have joined a fleet from far away that could explain but dunno..
and i'm not sure about this but lets say your fleet comander is in another zone but is warping towards the rest of the fleet, that fleet will try to go to the zone the commander is warping from THEN go back to the one he reached :S
pretty confusing how i said it but bleh :S

No, it happens also when the fleet leader is in the same gravity well.

Yep, it happens a lot to me. What I have done to "fix" is to select just that ship and remove it from the fleet. It then jumps away but it always jumps back and rejoins the fleet and is fine from that point on.

I *think* this is the cause: When you build a ship in a gravity well with a fleet it auto joins the fleet. But, if you also have a rally point for all ships in that gravity well it will want to fly to the rally point first and then it will fly to join up with the fleet. IF you move the fleet *before* that ship gets to the rally point and jump to a new system that ship will still want to go to the rally point, thus why it won't group up with the fleet in the new gravity well but will hang out by the phase lane wanting to jump away. Thus if you remove it from the fleet it will jump away, "tag up" the rally point and then jump back.

It's very weird.

i agree with bonscott

bonscott, that's an interesting idea. I didn't think about it wanting to go to the rally point. That would explain why it happens more often early game (for me), when my rally point is in my homeworld. After I spread out a bit, I set my rally points to be other systems (i.e. another planet, asteroid, etc.). So, the ship will go there and fulfill its rally command by just going there.

That makes sense.

No no,
Because there was only one fleet, it was my first fleet.

Interesting... does this only happen to the Vasari or to all?

I'm not using rally points, but this is still happening to me. So the issue might be a bit more difficult to track down (and reproduce).

Try group-selecting the fleet, disbanding and re-creating the fleet. This has worked for me in the past on the one time I saw this issue, along with fleets not jumping at all (they sit at the edge of the gravity well and never actually jump even though they've finished positioning themselves).

I've had it happen to me, I send one of my capital ships to assist a fleet taking over neutral worlds, then all of a sudden I hear "Capital ship has taken massive damage." look at it and see it's somewhere completely different. Ofcourse I know that sometimes you have ships selected that you don't know about and go look at a different system and then you accidentaly send it there, it can be frustrating then to see the ship on the other side of the map during a key battle, haha. The computer never has this problem, dang AI.

So this explains how my TEC fleet half a galaxy away from the nearest ship yard was "procreating"! As I ctrl-# my fleet, I would see a bunch of unselected ships, and wonder if my ships were going through a process of meiosis to self replicate.

Trying to figure this out, I was getting so

Me either, my video record shows basics first steps with the problem.

you can set rally points to be fleets also if you wish...so that they will automatically goto where the fleet is

aye i have this issue as well. Very irritating.

Yes, it's getting more irritating with every game. And I don't think it's happening totally because of a rally point that wasn't reached by that ship. It seems to happen most with the last ship added to the fleet. Weird.
