Question about "Pinning" please

I'm learning how to use the Empire Tree more and more each game to help me do things easier.  But what I'm confused about is pinning; specifically, ALL I want to show most the time is my Shipyards, so I can quickly click on them and give build orders or waypoints, but, even if I pin them, I can't get rid of ALL the other tons of stuff listed; like builder ships, metal mines, ect.  In fact, I see no difference when they are pinned or not, they still show or don't show on the tree just like every other thing in the gravity well/planet.

Is there a way I can pin something, and when I collase that portion of the tree, ONLY the things I've pinned still show?

Nope, the tree displays the planet where your thing is pinned, it doesn't display the individual units/structures separate from everything else.

From what I understand, this is a technical limitation.

Wow, I'm totally shocked. I can't just pin the ship constucting buildings without pinning the other dozen+ too? That just seems to be almost useless???

Shouldn't really need to do that in particular, since you can build via the planet itself just as easily. Just collapse the node if you want to save space on the tree.

I thought that there was something in options. Maybe go through the advanced interface tutorial again?

And tell me if you succeed, I've been thinking about that too, I just don't have time to try it now.

I didn't figure out the pinning thing, but if u just want fast access to your shipyard, just select it and press Ctrl + [1-0].
Then you can access the Ship Factory by just pressing the assigned number.

As noted above, that's not necessary. Simply selecting the planet either in the main play window or on the Empire Tree will allow you access to build menus, provided the appropriate structures are in orbit at that planet.

Just do what Kyro said. you can build ships just by selecting the planet. the only thing that I see could be lacking ( please correct me if I am wrong) I would like an easier way to select superweapons. It wouls be great to be able to pin them or have thier ability shown on the planet action grid. Another awesome feature (if it has not already been added and I am just too dumb to figure it out) would be to have an option to let a group of units with abilities use thier abilities at once when selected. For example The Iconos Guardian. Say I have five of them selected. It would be cool if when I pressed the shield ability in the action grid all five of them activated thier shield abilities.

Disagree. It would be better if it selected the group and subselected one when the icons are stacked, so that it'd be possible to tab through them.

Example: Iconus Guardian, with the push-the-enemy-away ability.

Or why not find a way to do both. Options rock!

Oh, boy do I feel dumb now. I played a game just now to see, and yes, you can just click on the planet. It never occured to me. No more searching for the factory icons for me :))

Now, I'm almost hoping that I don't get lots of the same type planets at first, so I don't have to try to guess what planet had the factory orbiting it.
