Options>Mods...wait, where is the Mods button?

So, I went and downloaded a wonderful looking mod (the mars effect), and after looking to see where it went and putting it there, I thought I would be good to go.

Only I'm not. I start up the game and go to the options menu to get the mod going....only there isn't a tab for mods. In fact, I can't for the life of me find it anywhere in there.

Just for the record, I put it into

C:\Documents and settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad
Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods

so, unless the \username\ is supposed to be something other than username....like...a name or something, I'm pretty lost. Can you tell it's my first time to try a mod out?

Username should be the name of your account that you log onto Windows with. You should not have to create a new folder for it, if you navigate from My Computer -> C:/ (or whatever drive you installed Windows on) -> Documents and setting -> Then double click the folder with your username.

As for the Options bit, when you have Sins up and running, on the main menu, click on "Options"; along the left side you will see a series of tabs/buttons (User Interface, Video, etc.), the very bottom button will be "Mods". Click on that.

If you have installed the mod correctly (in my mod's case, the folder labeled "The Mars Effect" should be inside the "Mods" folder under your Sin's Documents and Settings directory), the mod should be listed as an option to enable.

If nothing is listed, click the button that says "Show Directory", and it will show you the full path to the Sins mod folder on your particular computer.

Well, the mod is in there correctly as far as I can tell, although there wasn't a mod folder until I made one a second ago...but when I go to the options menu in game, I still get nothing.

So from the main menu -> Options, there isn't a tab titled "Mods" along the far left side of your screen? :NOTSURE:

And when I said I made the mods folder...I just went to the program file for the game, where all the other little folders hang out, and just put it there.

I have a feeling that isn't where it goes

Have you patched to the latest version?

The Mods button isn't in the Options menu for vanilla v1.0. They fixed that with the patch.

The "username" directory is the username you're logged in with (so, C:\Documents and settings\OzWolf011\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad
Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods)

...and you shouldn't have to create any folders. What's important is that you are really going to local settings\application data and not just application data. If the folder still isn't there, make sure that you updated.

Allrighty, thanks for the help.

Looks like I get to patch up to 1.2.

Thanks again.
