Nice

I've also found that when a planet is overly-defended by militia (12+ ships) it usually has a relic on it

I've played the largest map, and so far I've only found 4 of them, but some people are reporting that they've got them all in a single game?? In my very first game, I played me against 4 hard computer players, large map, and I own two entire start systems, and I still have only found 3?? :)

One thing I have noticed is that some people do not explore the planet 100%. You have to explore 100% to get one.. If it's there of course.. LOL

Do the 102 random planets one, I actually found 11 Artifacts. Two of them were copies of another, I wonder if they stack though?

I have come across negative traits on worlds... such as a penal colony on a volanic world that actually increased my costs there. What was it considered? A "natural resource", or some such? Not something I was happy to find after wasting 900 credits on exploring the place...

You don't have to explore 100% to get an artifact; you get a chance to find the artifact at both attempts. If you don't find it with the first attempt, then you may with the second. I usually do the 50% research on all my planets, then do the 100% on the ones which I didn't find an artifact on.
I *think* that if you capture an enemy planet on which he found an artifact then searching is guaranteed to find it, but I have no conclusive proof. Anyone know for sure?

That's what I was referring to - once you take said planet off them you still need to search to get the artifact.
